    Description

Hi guys. We are only looking for long term volunteers ! Minimum stay 3 months (1 month trial period). Experienced landscapers/gardeners/carpenters/ farmers will have preference. People with little experience can apply but you will need to demonstrate your physical hands on abilities as much as possible. If you never held a shovel or a machete you will not be able to stay here, read this before you send us a messages please. You will need your own transportation. A bike or a car. We need someone who will be able to take care of the farm when we are away. This is impossible without at least a bike or car. You can buy and sell cheap bikes here easily. You can buy a bike for 1000 us and sell it for nearly the same money afterwards (we can help with this if needed) If you just drive to the center of Santa Teresa you don't really need a drivers license as you will drive on none registered roads trough the reserve.

You will stay in your own house and provide and cook your own meals. We are looking for highly independent and skilled people who want to live on our land rent free. In turn you will work 3 hours per day 5 days per week on various projects. You will have an area for yourself to plant your own vegetables. You will be able to get some free food mostly bananas and avocados etc but we don't have a community vegetable garden yet so you will need to buy or produce most of your own food.
Some days of course we can cook together and relax by the fireplace, but the majority of the time you will be living here 100% independent.

We have starlink so people with online jobs will be able to work without problems as long as you can manage 3 hours per day this will be no problem.

Our farm situated 2 hours from Rio de Janeiro. 45 minutes by plane to Vitória and 1 hour by car. We are located in the beautiful town Santa Teresa in the state Espirito Santo. We have 12 hectares of beautiful jungle (mata atlantica) and 6 hectares of farmland. We have a river with crystal clear water coming straight out of the national reserve passing 850 meters through our property with many natural pools and little waterfalls. Our neighbor is the amazing Augusto Ruschi National reserve with over 4000 hectares of protected forest. There are many mammals but it is most famous for birds . Augusto Ruschi was a famous Brazilian biologist specializing in hummingbirds. To the front you have an ocean view. We are 750 meters high so the temperature is comfortable.

In your spare time you can go hiking in the natural reserve, I'm also trying to climb trees and rocks. An experienced climber could probably open up about a dozen of new routes in the area it's full of big walls and boulders. We have our own little lake to swim. There is a very nice town about 15 km from us called Santa Teresa, it's a student town and there are lots of nice bars and restaurants. There are lots of waterfalls around, we are also building an ecological pool. I also like to surf, the beach is about 40km's from the town. We like to live our life in a way we don't need a holiday ! The public transport in Santa Teresa is excellent. From Vitoria it is extremely easy to take a plane to Bahia, Rio, Sao Paulo or anywhere you want to visit in Brazil !

Organic methods: Ernst Götsch's Syntropic Agriculture
    Hügelkultur
    Agroforestry
    Biochar.

Current projects: The biggest current project is the construction of an ecological swimming pool. Coffee. Banana. Planting/Harvesting. Biochar. Shiitake. We are also starting an adventure park style trail.

The difference between us (Myself Kilian and Nina) is that we have had alot of experience as workawayers. We had some fantastic experiences and some terrible ones ! In this light we will treat whoever comes as we would like to be treated.

Learn Syntropic Agroforestry techniques, knowledge about plants fruits and trees, how to grow Shiitake mushrooms, how to work with chainsaw and powertools, general woodworking skills. Nina likes to teach Portuguese I am a carpenter and had my own construction company.
