    Description

    Sheep farmer and a fosterparent in our beutiful contry. Our farm name is Helgustaðir and have a many possability to do some out excersise. We have 450 sheeps, 3 dogs an 3 cats. My name is Sólrún and my husban’s name is Ólafur. We have 3 kids and 6 grandchildren. We also have 5 fosterchildren. The famely are all to us and we try to spend as much time together as we can. We often go to next cyties Siglufjordur and Akureyri and there is a lot to see and joy. Foexample swimming pools, museum and good restorante. We are near to the see an we go to the beach when it is a good wether. In Fljótin are horse rental, shop, animal garden and a lot’s of hiking roads. We also have a nice swimmingpool.

    Getting to know the family and friends, our fosterchildren and go to some trips in north of the country. We are hoping to that when the work is done that you will come again to work for us or just to enjoy as a friend. The kids are excided to get to try something new and try your local food.

    Helping with sheep, keeping the sheep house clean. Help with cleaning, cooking and other things around the house. Also help with the kids. The age is 8, 10, 13 and 16.

    In the spring there is a lambing season and a lot of work in may.

    In the summer fixing things, cleaning and helping with the kids and the house.

    In September we hiking and collecting the sheeps from the montens. Wery difficult for people that are not use to hiking.

    In October it is mostly help around the house and with the kids.

    In November the sheeps are taking in to the sheephouse. Then we need help feeding them, cleaning the sheephouse, helping around the house and with the kids.

    In December we need help in the sheephouse, prepering christmas, baking and stuff.

    In Januar the most job is with rhe sheephouse, house and the kids.

    In Februar also helping with the kids, house end the sheeps.

    In Marz and April we need help prepering the lambing season, help around the house and the kids.

    We have a beutiful home. With a big garden with wooden platform, hot tub, outdoor furniture, flowers and trees. We have 7 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitcen living room and tv room.

    We offer room, food and 1.000 eur per month. But in in the lambing season in May we pay extra salary because of long working days.


    You can go hiking, swimming (5 min from Helgustaðir by car). Go to the beach and collect beutiful shells. There is a horse rental farm, a zoo ond a store in the countryside.

    The nearest town are Hofsós (to the west 30 min by car). There is an incredibly beautiful swimming pool, resturante and museum.

    Siglufjörður (to the east 20 min by car). There is a beautiful museums, Bakary, restuante, shops and more.

    The capital of the north is Akureyri (to the east 1.5 hours by car). There is the Christmas House, museums, Forest Lagoon (my favorite), Whale Watching, shops and more

    The bus from Reykjavík goes to Sauðárkrókur (1 our to the west from Helgustaðir) and I will pick you up.

    It can be possable to borrow a car so you can go to a short trip ond look around.
