    Description

Retreat is a camping and lodging spot we are building/renovating outside Brevard, NC geared towards mountain bikers but open to all. We are located in the mountains of western North Carolina in an absolutely beautiful part of the country. World class mountain biking and gorgeous waterfall hikes are right outside the property. My wife and I bought 37 acres, a house that started as a log cabin and a large art studio we are converting to lodging and building camp sites, trails and bridges across the property to allow guests to stay and explore.

Willing to teach the basics of various trades. This part of the country is absolutely beautiful and a huge favorite for anyone that likes outdoor activities. We have a great local music scene with live music just down the road most days of the week and close enough to explore other areas in the south. Close to Asheville, NC

    Help

Work would consist of a few things: general land maintenance, cutting back brush, moving leaves, some gardening maybe, etc. Trail building; some hand work and operating small equipment. Carpentry and renovation work, building trail bridges, decks at campsites, maybe helping build a shed or addition to the lodge. No experience necessary; I have all the tools and I am happy to teach anything if you are willing to learn. Pay would be $15-$25 an hour depending on experience and skills and accomodation are provided.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Finished and furnished room in the lodge with full bathroom and full kitchen. It's a separate house from ours which you may share with one other person and the campers use the facilities off the porch but not the kitchen or rest of the house. You can check our website for pictures. We aren't consistent cooks so you'd be expected to be self sufficient on most meals but happy to cook when we can. Our local music spot also consistently has potlucks and soup 5 nights of the week.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Look up Brevard, Hendersonville and Cedar Mountain for attractions in the area but the hiking and biking is literally world class. If you like the outdoors you will love it here. My wife and I are very laid back, I still have a day job working for an environmental non-profit and the wife takes care of guests and the property. Close enough to town to pick everything you need up.

    Can possibly accept pets

Dogs are no problem. Cats would be considered. I love cats but if staying in shared spaces my concern is other guests with allergies so would have to consider the specifics.
