Description
Hi there! I'm Lucia, an English teacher from Argentina. I've just come back from a volunteering experience myself. I want to continue learning about the world but this time from home.
Volunteers have to speak English, C1 level preferably since the main task they are going to do is share their culture at the private English school where I work. Only three teachers and a secretary work there, it's a very small building.
Other volunteers who can't communicate in English are welcome too, but will have other jobs such as gardening and/or cleaning.
I live in a quiet village next to the beautiful Parana river, in the North East part of Argentina. Its name is Itá Ibaté, which are Guaraní words. It's located 60 km away from one of the gate of the Iberá Wetland (Los Esteros del Iberá) called "Portal Cambyretá".
This village is the perfect place where you can experience local culture and travel to other beautiful towns such as Itatí, Ituzaíngo, Corrientes (capital), etc.
Itá Ibaté is famous for sport fishing. Every year in June we have a fishing regional competition, "La fiesta provincial de la Boga y el Pacú", which are two types of fish.Types of help and learning opportunities

You can learn how the Argentinian school system works and teach yours. Schools are different everywhere but here we have even a different school year.
I live in a small town located in the North of the Province of Corrientes, here people know each other so it will be easy for you to speak with locals and have friends. We Argentinians are very warm people and like to share meals and/or drink the typical "mate", or in this region in summer, tereré (though I don't drink it :/ )
Ituzaingó is a small town located 71 kilometres away and Corrientes, the capital is 158km. We have coach services everyday.
Ita Ibate is a super quiet and safe place, it's perfect for relaxing and meditating. There are lots of local food you can try here as well. You can find people who sell it but also we can prepare some recipes together.
During the year we have traditional events or ceremonies that you can attend to. We could travel to some small villages in own free time.
As regards the wetlands, one of their gates is really near, around 60 kilometres, then you have to travel 30 kilometres to get to the heart of that part of the wetlands. The only proble is that there's no public transport to get there, you can go by coach and hop off at the access of the gate but then it could be difficult to get a lift in the 30 kilometres gravel track. Of course there are private services that can take you there, I can get you their contact. The Iberá wetlands really worth it.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
There are two types of tasks required:
1. Language and culture exchange: attend to lessons at the private school and share about you and the life in your country (all in English).
2. Gardening and/or cleaning: volunteers who don't have a good level of English or speak other languages can help with the backyard, it needs some DIY repairs and cleaning.
Native English speakers will be required to help me improve my English. Although I'm a teacher, there's always something new to learn, even if it's only a correct preposition. I can eagerly help you improve your Spanish as well.Languages

A two-storeys flat. The kitchen with dining area is in the ground floor and the bathroom and bedroom (with bunk beds) are in the first floor.
What else ...
Itá Ibaté is a perfect place where you can relax. From going to the beach in summer or reading at the park to simplily walking around. It's basically in the middle of two capital cities, Posadas-Misiones to the left and Corrientes-Corrientes to the right, both 160 kilometres away. We have coaches that go to both cities everyday. In Itá Ibaté everything is at a walking distance but we also have taxi services as well.
