Description
Hello. We have a wonderful 10 acre lifestyle block close to the villages of Waimauku and Kumeu (wine country) in the north west part of Auckland, just 35 mins drive to the city outside of the rush hour and 20 mins drive to the beautiful Muriwai (surf/swim) beach, there are also a few walking/hiking opportunities nearby.
I keep a small flock of sheep, I'll be adding to the livestock at some stage.
My daughter stays with me on alternate weeks so you need to be very comfortable around children and happy to interact as and when. Her grandfather lives on the property in a separate house, he's always keen to help with whatever jobs are being worked on and is usually around to answer questions when I’m not.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I have been hosting travellers on other platforms for some years now and have very much enjoyed learning from each other and hearing about the different and varied lifestyles of our helpers and their travels. I also enjoy being able to share our daily lives and having people join in with us on our adventures...
It's a rural location, peaceful, with views over the property. A quiet escape from the busy city life...Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
There is an evolving orchard and veg garden constantly in need of upkeep.
Ideally I am looking for someone to help out with a variety of jobs around the garden (weeding; mowing; mulching; veg growing, orchard etc.) the property (fencing; wood stacking; tidying up; general maintenance etc.) and with the animals.
When my daughter is home, getting up to help with the morning school run is appreciated and occasionally after school (for an hour or so).
You do need to be trustworthy, responsible and, when necessary, able to work safely on your own.

You can contact them directly for more information.Accommodation
Accommodation is provided in the house with your own bedroom, shared bathroom and living areas.
I have a TV and a DVD player, Wi-Fi access (not unlimited so subject to acceptable use).
I always appreciate offers of help with planning menus, shopping and sharing the cooking; there will be occasions when you`ll need to prepare/cook food for yourself. What else ...
There is no local bus or train service, the nearest shops are approx. 3km away.
There are occasions when I can accept 2 people, feel free to enquire about availability.
I can pick up locally if you don`t have your own transport and we can discuss getting out and about during a stay if you`re happy to fit in with whatever plans we can make to help.
My interests outside my job and the property include tramping/hiking and camping. I am more than happy to share these pursuits with you if they appeal and time allows during your stay.A little more information
