Finishing up winery season in Coonawarra and then looking for new adventures in SA/Vic from June onwards!

Hello! I'm Ruth, I'm 27, originally from the UK and in Australia since December 2023. Currently working at a winery in Coonawarra since February, and on the lookout for a workaway or two from the end of May onwards, probably in SA, but open to everywhere.

I worked from 2021 to 2023 as a junior carpenter, builder and workshop assistant, and am fully proficient in.. pretty much all the tools I think. I have also worked several seasons as a winery cellar hand, just finishing up a successful season in Coonawarra, making some delicious reds. The aim is to be a jack of all trades, but also master of a couple of them, given time of course.

I've moved around quite a bit and tried my hand a a lot of different things, teaching English in rural Nepal for a year, studying for my biology degree, lots of horticultural work when on a working holiday visa in New Zealand for 2+ years, youth work, and the aforementioned carpentry, construction and winery work.

I play cricket and badminton, do a lot of medium/long distance hiking and camping, and enjoy cooking, baking, Star Wars, cross stitching, a bit of guitar, chilling in libraries, getting to know people, sharing skills and learning new things from each other. I have recently bought a car for the first time in my life, which is exciting and opens up more opportunities.

I would be very open to any workaways where I can build on my existing skills, in particular with different types of building and carpentry (tiny houses?), ramble about some nice countryside, live in a community and encounter new ideas that have never crossed my mind before.

2 years of carpentry, building and construction, cooking and baking, cricket, badminton, wood and metalworking, beginner guitar. Can do basic gardening and use a mower/brushcutter.
