I am Miriam, 28 years old from Germany.
I am a traveller by heart and love to learn through experiences.

I can help you with many things. In my previous jobs I worked as UX Designer/Web & App designer (more Infos here: https://miriamschmitz95.wixsite.com/my-site)

Hotelmanagement assistent (4-5* Hotels, B&Bs) , Travel Expert (Travel Agency), Harvest Helper (Cauliflower picker). (some other) (Don't hesitate to ask me for more detailed infos)

My skills:
- people person (Love to meet new people, good listener, love to exchange informations,
welcoming people, make new friends, give recommendations)
- outdoorsy (Love to do/plan hikes/bicycle routes, went across france 1.300km by bicycle, cycled on my own from germany to and around Ireland 2.800km
hiked the way of Saint James, climbed some mountains in Germany, climbed Mount
Kilimanjaro)
- writing (I'm currently writing a book about a far-distance hike I did)
- creative (webdesign, drawing, painting)
- great cooker/baker (I love regional/sustainable food, I love cooking for friends)

Why Workaway?
- I love to dive into cultures and to understand/see how people live around the world
- I want to make a positiv change in the life of others ( teach, engage, exchange, help)
- I want to learn new skills, excited to explore the world while helping, sharing ( learn sailing, kite-surfing, doing beach clean-ups, farm-work, teaching in schools, being a tour guide)

- Nature/ Sustainability:
I am good in camping, bicycling around countries, hiking, wood cutting would be a
dream job!
- People:
I love to meet new people, I am bringing good vibes, easy going, hanging out with
fun people, many laughs
- Food & Drinks:
I love to understand how food is produced, picking many thousands
cauliflowers during lockdown)
- Animals:
especially dogs, want to learn horse riding
- Cities:
I love to meet people from different cultures, I love dancing Salsa, Bachata,
Kizomba, Disco Fox (..) open to learn more or get better in those :), Music makes everything
better, culture (History & Books), architecture (I could help with house building as well, if
you are happy to teach

I believe that workaway is a good opportunity to travel, broaden your mind, learn new skills, improve languages and contributing to different communities whilst beeing abroad.

I love the outdoors as well as vibrant cities.I have grown up In a small village with lots of farmers. I had a dog myself and I like animals in general. Therefore I am not afraid of harsh weather or physical work.

So far, I already had four workaway experiences in Asia, Morocco and Germany:
Volunteering in a hostel in northern Vietnam, helping out in the hostel and leading tours, helping out in a safari company in Sri Lanka. In Morocco I teached children german and english. Currently im working in a small cafe in southern germany. I returned as I loved the work. First time I renewed a workaway work contract. :D

-->>> My plan is to work in austria over the winter time. I would love to find a workaway in austria in a gastronomy field. I never worked in austria in winter time. Working in hospitality/ gastronomy - serving guests improving my barkeeper skills would be amazing. I think it would be awesome to stay in a small town and work to wind down the year - before I'm rushing into the new experience.

Working and saving money would also allow me to continue my project: writing a book about my last cycle tour from Germany to Ireland.
Im also preparing travel presentations. With those presentations Im fundraising money to support a school in Guatemala.

I would be happy to find a workaway where I can work and earn money and still have time to work on my personal stuff.

-->>> Another Idea would be to work/travel in a spanish speaking country: Spain, Kuba/Dom. Rep. in November/December.
