Hi everyone! My name is Jon and I am a fun loving 27 year old from London. I originally trained and worked as a trumpet player but am now travelling full time working seasons as a ski instructor. Over the last few years I have been fortunate enough to travel and work in many new countries such as Japan, Austria and New Zealand. I am about to return to NZ again for the upcoming winter season in Queenstown as a ski instructor. I am super excited to find a Workaway to spend 16th May- 10th June before my season begins. I am looking for a beautiful group of people to share my next adventure with!

I love to challenge myself in everything that I do and am very outgoing. I have an infectious positivity and enthusiasm which I bring to any task I come across big or small!

I am a people person who gets on well with others and enjoys making new friends. I can often never sit still and love to be active outdoors as much as possible. I love the feeling of fresh air in the morning as I wake up in nature.

When it comes to my work I have a high level of attention to detail and always work diligently. I thrive as part of a team and have naturally strong leadership and teaching skills, though I am also proactive and can work well individually. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty.

I love to get immersed in the culture of wherever I travel and have a passion for learning languages. I can speak advanced French and German and am still studying to become fluent.

I will have my trumpet with me as it never leaves my side. I love to play with other musicians that I meet and share experiences, as well as entertaining those around me.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Communication- Communicating effectively and maturely is a must in any relationship be it work or friendship. I am a great communicator who also listens well.

Teaching- Coming from a family of teachers, teaching and coaching has never been far away and is a natural strength of mine.

Enthusiasm to learn- I have always resonated with the process of mastery and developing my skills be it in music or sports. I am always eager to try new things and learn from those around me.

People skills- I am a very social person who loves to be around others. I find it easy to get on well with others and form strong friendships.

Musician- I am a professional trumpet player and will be bringing a plastic travel trumpet with me. I don’t plan to practice regularly while working away though I’d be happy to play a tune or two!

Physically fit- I am physically fit and strong. This means I am well equipped to help with any manual labour or physically demanding jobs.

Perseverance/Resilience- I am never put off by a challenge and don’t give up easily.

Attention to detail/diligence- I gain a lot of satisfaction from doing things properly to the best of my ability. I don’t like to cut corners.

Patience- I am very patient when teaching others regardless of their age. This comes from my 5 years of teaching experience in both music and skiing.

Integrity/reliability- Doing the right thing is very important to me. You can rely on me to act honourably in all situations.

Organisation/Punctuality- My years working as a freelance musician mean that I have very reliable time-keeping skills and always arrive organised and ready to work. I am able to separate my work life and leisure time. “Work hard play hard”

Leadership skills- I am a natural leader who knows how to get the best of others when in a team. Encouraging others to do their best is a love of mine.

Was noch ...

I love all things social, be it a quiet movie night after a dinner party, or a party on the beach! A self confessed board game connoisseur. I love to be surrounded by other people who also love getting outdoors or playing sports. I love to watch sport games even if I don’t know anything about it, just for the atmosphere. I am looking forward to improving my surfing too!
