Hi everyone!
We are to gardeners living in the fjords' Norway. We run a really tiny perennial nursery from the farm. We are also working on our own garden, to be as self-sustainable as possible. In addition, we forage a lot of wild edibles. A lot of time in late summer goes into preserving food for winter.
We enjoy having people around us. We love wholesome, homemade food. We collect wild food, we ferment foods and drinks (cider, vinegar, kimchi, those kind of things), and we explore food traditions from around the world. We enjoy hiking, and should like prioritizing it more often. We knit, we sew, we build, we forage, we butcher… we’re always eager to learn new skills, and we'd be happy to teach away what we can.
Guttorm has previous experience as a host, and not least with maybe hundreds of guests, and also as a traveller. Béatrice has experience as a helper and as a host.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

As you'd stay with us, sharing our everyday life, you'd get to know what rural Norway can be like. Most of the summer days are about being outside. And as mentioned above, we'd be happy to share with you what we can.
The farm is located in Ulvik in Hardanger. There you can go multiple, beautiful day hikes. As Ulvik is along a fjord, you can bathe; but if you wish to challenge yourself, you can also bathe in the river with cold mountain water.
Ulvik is also known as being the hometown of internationaly renowned poet Olav H. Hauge. You can learn about his life and work in the local museum. Here is the poem "Your Way" (translated by Robin Fulton):
No-one has marked out the road
you are to take
out in the unknown
out in the blue.
This is your road.
Only you
will take it. And there's no
turning back.
And you haven't marked your road
either.
And the wind smoothes out your tracks
on desolate hills.
You can also go along the "Cider route" and meet with local producers.Projekte mit Kindern

Arbeit
We have not made a plan yet for what needs to be done in 2024 as we write these words, but the two main things we need help with are:
- tend to the garden, harvest and process the food for storage through winter
- infrastructure work: carpentry, painting, tidying, etc.
We expect 4-5 hours of work 5 days a week. We do not include in these hours all of the tasks that make living together possible. Everybody makes food, we all clean the house together, etc. It means that in practice, you will have to participate at least 1 hour per day for the benefit of the community. It is important that you have prior experience with making food, so that when it is your turn to make food for everyone, you can come up with meal ideas that will keep our stomachs full, and then prepare the food.
As a guest we expect you to be autonomous on tasks, wether it be making food or small carpentry work. We can help you, and you can ask for help of course. But as summer can be a very busy season for us, you will have to fly with your own wings pretty fast so that we can do our own part.Sprachen

We can help with norwegian, french, english. Béatrice est francaise, et ensemble nous parlons les trois langues que nous partageons, au quotidien. Nous ne sommes donc pas les hôtes idéaux si votre but est d'apprendre l'anglais...Unterkunft
We live in to the “Permaculture house”, built in the 1990 to be sustainable. The house is bigger than what the two of us need, so you’re welcome to stay with us 🙂
You'll have your own bedroom.
We eat a whole food keto diet, which means meat/fish + vegetables at each meal. Because of that, we have experienced in the past that vegan or even vegetarian diets can be hard for us to accomodate. Therefore, we will prioritize hosting ppl who can do with eating meat. Otherwise we'll do our best to accomodate guests with allergies. Was noch ...

We stayed with Béatrice and Guttorm for 1 month, and were simply delighted! They're a welcoming couple, available, funny, generous, and always ready to teach you something! And their little dog Ulf is absolutely adorable. We've been able to work in the garden (harvest paradise), process lots of food, make syrup, wine, homemade… read more
