Beschreibung
We are a couple in our fifties moving forward on the path of a societal transition. Our children, now adults and independent, have left the family home. We want a smaller home that is more in line with our philosophy of life (leaning toward self-sufficiency in water, energy, food, cooperative, etc.).
We wanted to participate as much as possible in the construction of our home, in collaboration with building professionals and with the help of volunteers. We therefore opted for a wood, straw and earth habitat. This adventure took place on the fringes of an eco-place, created collectively almost 5 years ago and adjoining our land.
Today we moved in and the house is almost finished. The development of crops (vegetable garden, vegetable garden, fruit tree, etc.) and participation in the renovation/improvement work of the eco-site building takes us a lot of time and as we age, we need a helping hand with varied tasks (mainly agriculture, construction).
The place in question is located in Estialescq, a small village in Haut Béarn near Oloron Sainte-Marie.
We offer to workawayers who would choose to come and spend some time with us, to share our experience on our journey of change from a life as experienced by most of our contemporaries towards a life that is healthier, more autonomous and which we hope is more resilient. .

Nous sommes un couple de quinquagénaires avançant sur le chemin d'une transition sociétale. Nos enfants, devenus adultes et autonomes, ont quitté le foyer familial. Nous souhaitons un habitat plus petit et plus conforme à notre philosophie de vie (tendant à l'autonomie en eau, en énergie, alimentaire, coopératif...).
Nous souhaitions participer le plus possible à sa construction en collaboration avec les professionnels du bâtiment et avec l'aide de volontaires. Nous avons donc opté pour un habitat bois, paille et terre. Cette aventure s'est faite en marge d'un écolieu, créé en collectif il y a bientôt 5 années et mitoyen de notre terrain.
Aujourd'hui, nous avons emménagé et la maison est bientôt finie. Le développement des cultures (potager, légume, fruitier..) et la participation aux travaux de renovation/amélioration du bâti de l'écolieu nous prend beaucoup de temps et l'âge avançant, nous avons besoin d'un coup de main sur des tâches variées (agriculture, construction principalement).
Le lieu en question est situé à Estialescq, petit village du Haut Béarn à proximité d'Oloron Sainte-Marie.
Nous proposons aux workawayers qui choisiraient de venir passer un peu de temps avec nous, de partager notre expérience sur notre parcours de changement d'une vie telle que connaît la plupart de nos contemporains vers une vie plus saine, autonome et que nous espérons plus résiliente.

Our life journey, our experience abroad, from sailing in the Pacific, the awareness of our environmental impact and the life changes made will probably present certain interests for volunteers as we have been able to observe through our experience of participatory projects which attract a similar audience of young (or not so young) people, thirsty for alternatives to the world that our society offers them.
Notre parcours de vie, notre expérience de l'étranger, de la navigation à la voile dans le Pacifique, prise de conscience de notre impact environnemental et les changements de vie opérés présenteront probablement certains intérêts pour les bénévoles tel que nous avons pu le constater par notre expérience des chantiers participatifs qui attirent un public similaire de jeunes (ou moins jeunes) gens, ayant soif d'alternatives au monde que notre société leur propose.

Estialescq is a village of 280 inhabitants in the countryside without shops, 300m from the property. Oloron is 6 km away, accessible by bike (available) and has all amenities and shops, cinema, swimming pool. Walks are possible on foot or by bike in the immediate vicinity.
