This is a community-owned pub on the Knoydart Peninsula, on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands. We have been community-owned since 2022.

Being a community-owned pub means we are run by the people and for the people. A board of volunteer directors oversee the big decisions and overall business management, and the day-to-day running of the pub is taken care of by our bar manager & chef, supported by a team.

The pub is situated in the rural village of Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula. We are not connected to the mainland road network, therefore the only way to get here is by a 30min ferry ride from the nearby port of Mallaig, or a 2-3 day walk in over the hills! We may be remote in location, but we have an amazing wee community of about 120 folk and you will never be far away from a helping hand or someone to catch up with over coffee.

We are seeking a kitchen assistant to join our team as soon as possible until the end of October. Applications from those who can commit to the full period will be prioritised. Staff accommodation is available.

Knoydart residents pioneered community land ownership in the late 1990’s, and today a vast swathe of the peninsula is owned and managed by us. You will have the opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to live and work on community-owned land, and play a vital role in securing our community’s future success.

Knoydart is haven for hillwalkers, explorers and nature-lovers. Wild swimming, stargazing, beach bbq’s, climbing hills…there’s something for everyone.

Most importantly of all, we have a wonderful community here and we pride ourselves on being welcoming and offering some real Highland hospitality.

We are a short ferry trip to the nearby fishing port of Mallaig where there are shops (Coop, bakery, fishmonger, corner shop) and a selection of bars and restaurants. There are public transport links to Fort William and further south (via train/bus) and also to the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles (Calmac ferry). Fort Williams is our closest larger town and is an hour away by car/1.5hr by train.
