Dog rescue and hotel near Mendoza
Description
In the small town of San Carlos, 100 km from Mendoza, we run a small hotel that doubles as a domestic and farm animal rescue operation. We are situated on a large piece of land that also formerly housed a monastery (now converted to hotel accommodations). We currently have over 50 dogs - almost exclusively strays rescued from the streets of San Carlos - along with pigs, wild boars, horses, turtles, and various types of birds. Since the year 2000, over 1,000 animals have passed through the rescue that is privately owned and operated almost single-handedly by the hotel's owner, along with the help of several staff.

Work
As a volunteer, you can choose the tasks that best suit you. We always need volunteers to feed, care for, and give love and attention to the over 50 dogs currently in our care. As the rescue receives no outside funding, volunteers with veterinary care credentials and/or experience would make an extraordinary difference for those animals that come to us in need of sterilization, medical care, or medical maintenance. Volunteers with experience or networks for fundraising donations (both financial and in-kind) to upgrade the facilities and offset the costs for food, sterilization, and medical care are also needed. Other opportunities include daily maintenance and as-needed reparation of the animal enclosures, as well as lending a hand around the hotel with guests and general maintenance.
Languages spoken
Spanish, Italian, English
Accommodation
Volunteers will be provided with meals and a private room in the hotel (with bathroom en suite and TV).

We stayed here for 2 weeks, with 58 very sweet dogs and truly amazing staff. It's been hard, dirty work, but when you have all these lovely dogs around it doesnt really matter. We repaired a lot of the fences so all the dogs can now walk and play free outside of cages, will not be lock up in whole day anymore. We loved every single day we spent working more
I stayed in the Posada for three weeks, and loved my experience! The town is very small, but the view of the mountains on a sunny day is absolutely amazing. The work can be very dirty, but it was very rewarding as well. I loved playing with the dogs, however, sometimes it was sad to see the condition of some of them. Cristina is an amazing person, more
I found Cristina's dog rescue while looking for things to do on the way up to Mendoza coming from Bariloche. My experience here was very intense! I loved working with the dogs...hugging them, giving them love. I also really enjoyed getting to know the girls and of course Cristina. However, I did find the condition of the animals to be hard to more
My wife and I found Cristina's dog rescue/hotel by chance when we were bored with Mendoza, and it turned out to be one of the best experiences on our year-long trip around the world. Cristina is truly an amazing, positive, and generous soul and if you like animals you will love this Workaway. With 55+ dogs to care for, there is definitely plenty more
