Area: GuanacasteThis is an organic farm and wildlife rescue center in the making, just 1/2 mile from the beach. Tropical Farm Manager needed who’s ready for a challenge. The Farm at the beach in Costa Rica is looking for a longer term volunteer! The farm is located in the dry tropics, northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, only ½ mile from the beach and a 5 minute ride to Playas del Coco, the nearest town, and only 35 minutes from the nearest International Airport (Liberia). It is near civilization, tourists, shopping and activities, yet the farm itself is very quiet and secluded in the natural forest full of monkeys and other wildlife. A farm manager is needed to take this mostly raw land ½ mile from the beach, with a few structures and animals and create an organic farm using volunteers to plant and work the land which will feed them, (and you), and the volunteers will in turn care for the monkeys and other wildlife we will be rescuing as this plan is put into action.

Area: EnglandWe are a family living on a beautiful fifteenth century farm just outside St Albans, Hertfordshire (approximately 25 minutes on the train from central London) with a collection of beautiful Arabian horses including national and international ridden and in hand showing champions, divided into a mixture of young stock and adult mares, geldings and stallions. We breed horses and believe in a natural horsemanship way of caring for them: every horse has its individual traits and needs an intelligent and appropriate form of care. The horses have been our passion for many years and offer a unique lifestyle with fabulous individuals in an idyllic beautiful and tranquil setting. It is hard work but incredibly rewarding. We are nature loving family with education in Maths, Finance, IT and law who enjoy travelling, meeting people and music.

Area: SardiniaAs Willie Nelson said: "One person can't change the world but one person with a message can." As human beings, we have always wanted to do something, to in some way create a positive change along this Earth. For several years we have collaborated with different NGOs and associations in different parts of the world in order to satisfy this profound desire inside of ourselves. Working with associations and NGOs taught us so alot and brought us some of the happiest and most meaningful times of our lives. But it was frustrating too because real change was hard to achieve and no matter how hard we tried or how late we worked into the night it was never enough to really change the way things work on the ground. So, three years ago we decided together to take a radical step to bring about the change in our own lives that we wanted to see in life itself. It might seem kind of corny, like a good sounding slogan from an advertisment but simply this is all that we need. We decided to make life itself our first priority. We live in a semi-abandonded hamlet, some of them houses that are falling to pieces. We have decided to give a voice to a place like this, still uncontaminated, where peace and silence still reign over the hearts of human beings. It brings sadness to think many have left behind this place for an apartment in the modern cities of Milan and Turin. Each day we try to discover new aspects of life and we spend our time building a living and subsistence based on a respect of mother nature. The society that we live in seems to place priorities that tend to divide people and bring one even to deny life itself. We have said basta! and we have decided to start from here our adventure. We want to bring people together in a celebration of life here at La Casa Verde and we treasure the opportunity to share it with you. As part of our project, Our Big Experiment as we call it, we grow our own food, milk our goats for milk, cheese and yogurt, make honey and dedicate ourselves to recuperate old traditions and crafts that are becoming ways of the past like basket making, weaving, manual labor, carpentry and much more. Our dream is to give an example that its possible to live today without depending on the outside, exploiting mother earth or being trapped in a job that we don’t like, all you need is a little bit of creativity and a lot of hard work. My partner Sara is Sardinian and I am an American. As we continue along in our Big Experiment, we realize that sometimes its a big responsibility to keep the whole ship running and need some help with our projects. We hope that workaway puts us in contact with volunteers from around the world that are interested to see for themselves how an experiment like this works and maybe take the idea and make their own someday. Our home is open to all and we love the chance to share with visitors this simple lifestyle we live and why we think that living this way is special and important.
