We are a family business (self-catering holiday cottages and Bed & Breakfast) in the centre of Keswick, Cumbria. We have woodland, garden, river and vegetable garden as well as a dog, cat, chickens, ducks, rabbits, guinea-pigs & geese.
Jeronime is a qualified and experienced EFL teacher.
We are a large family with 7 children (3 at university).
Our place is ALWAYS a very busy house with guests, our children, friends. If this is a problem please DO NOT apply.
We love walking the Fells, sailing, climbing, mountain biking, Canadian canoeing, camping, fishing & BBQs on the Lakeside.
Basically, if you can do it outdoors... you can do it in Keswick, the Adventure Capital of the UK.

POSITION 1 - HOUSEKEEPER
To help in family house (tidying, cleaning, laundry & cooking), B&B & with our self-catering cottages.

*Occasional babysitting/collecting children from the school bus
We'd love someone who is organised, conscientious, has an eye for detail, has initiative and likes cleaning!
POSITION 2 - GENERAL MAINTENANCE
*Plumbing / electrical work / carpenter
*Painting and decorating
*General grounds maintenance
*Working on our vegetable garden & main garden
*Maintaining wood supplies - using chainsaw and axe
*Cleaning guest accommodation
You must be experienced, organised, able to use your time effectively, be conscientious and able to work independently.
You will be working outside and Cumbria is often wet!
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
25hrs per week
Minimum stay - 4 weeks although we prefer WorkAways who would like to stay longer
If you from outside the EU you must have valid medical insurance
PLEASE NOTE - we are willing to help you find evening work in Keswick
Depending on availability / single or couple WorkAways, we offer one of the following; bedroom on the top floor of the main family house,one of our lovely B&B rooms, a room in one of our self-catering units OR half of large converted barn.
We have Wi-Fi throughout Greta Hall.
We offer three meat free meals a day. However we eat fish, dairy and eggs.
It would be difficult for us to cater for a full vegetarian or vegan diet.
WorkAways eat the same food at the same time as us.
You can make tea / coffee / cordial anytime you want.
We usually have homemade biscuits & cake available for snacks as well as fresh fruit.
WorkAways are expected to help prepare meals, lay the table and clear-up after meals. This time is in addition to your 5 hours per day.
You will need to keep your rooms and the bathroom very tidy. You may need to move rooms depending on guest numbers.
We ask that you only speak English whilst at Greta Hall.

Keswick has a large international community who are very welcoming.
There are loads of groups & societies in Keswick (walking, knitting, climbing, singing, theatre....) some of which are free/very cheap to join. Most of our WorkAways have taken full advantage of these opportunities and have made good friends here.
We have maps, bikes, canoes etc you are welcome to use.
