Area: MarcheWe are a family with a 4-year old child and various other animals! We have an old farmhouse in a stunning rural setting, with vineyard and olive grove, which we have renovated ourselves since we moved here six years ago. We also have a medieval ruin which we are in the process of rebuilding. We have a fairly relaxed approach to the agricultural side of things, and focus most of our time on the building work. As such, we could really do with some help keeping on top of the various agricultural demands - in particular olive picking in late October/early November, and vine pruning in the spring. Needless to say, we can also offer willing guests varied experience of traditional stone and lime mortar building techniques. We speak English at home, but have embraced the Italian lifestyle. We have four dogs, two cats, a free range pig, and free range chickens. We grow some, although not all, our own fruit and vegetables, and make our own wine and olive oil. We absolutely love living here - the rural Italian lifestyle, with its emphasis on food, drink, friendship and family. If you think you would enjoy sharing the experience, we look forward to hearing from you :)
Area: Edayanchavadi (Auroville), Tamil Nadu, IndiaWe are a learning and creative educational center. Our main project is a free afterschool supportive and enriching environment for underprivileged village children of Edayanchavadi (outside of Auroville), India. Children in rural schools receive poor education and home incentives. Our aim is to help them study, develop, create, and empower themselves - thus giving them a better chance to compete in the rapidly developing Indian economy. We take a Holistic view on education: - Developing Creativity and Scholastic Motivation through creative teaching and homework assistance. - Ensuring sustainable development with awareness of social responsibility. - Assessing and catering to each child’s needs: Engaging and nurturing the children’s mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.
Area: Midi PyreneesWe are a family of 4 (Nic, Sara, Shirley and Max) with 10 dogs (Golden Retrievers, an Irish Setter and a Bichon Bolognaise). We have two properties in neighbouring villages. Mum (Shirley) - 6 dogs live there, and 4 at our place (Nic, Max and Sara) Our lives revolve around village life and - yep you guessed it dogs... Both properties are old farmhouses, that have been mostly renovated. We have plenty of land around the properties and we are in a rural location not far from the Pyrenees - so great for skiing, but hot in the summer when the swimming pool comes in handy. We run a small breeding kennel as a side line, (Nic is a business consultant) and we exhibit our dogs in France and Internationally. 1- 3 times a year we have a litter of puppies, which we raise and sell in France or Internationally.
Area: LimaOur accommodation is located in Santiago de Surco, a beautiful residential area of Lima, very close to touristy areas like Barranco or Miraflores. We have enough space to accommodate 8 travelers per night. As our accommodation is small we give our guests a different and more personal service. We started hosting travelers as a hobby in 2009 and started this project in 2012. Since then we have been quite successful and now our accommodation is a favorite among travelers who visit Lima. As we are now quite busy we are looking for a volunteer to support us a bit.
