Area: Pas de CalaisWe're a South African & English couple, both 30 years old and we've been living full-time in France for nearly 3 years. Alex is from an arts background and I'm running a small company and spend my free time tinkering (and usually breaking) with classic cars. Our house is an old fermette (small farmhouse) in a quiet village with beautiful walks and only 30mins drive to the coast. Shops, supermakets, cafes and restaurants are within easy reach (6mi away). Work has been a little hectic of late and we've not really had much time to keep up with our gardening duties. We're looking for an individual or couple who will enjoy relaxing in the French countryside, doing a bit of weeding, etc and who are up for braais (bbqs) and trips to the local bars and walks on the beach. Please bear in mind that we won't be around on weekdays but we're home by 5pm ish. We have two pets: a jack russell (Gonzo) and a cat (Intombe), both super friendly. We also have access to horses if you're into riding. Bikes are available too. There's also a lot of random DIY that needs doing (plastering) and help working on the cars is always welcome but the priority is the garden.

Area: Provence Alpes AzurWe are an English couple living near Grasse, the perfume town on the Cote d'Azur, just 20 minutes drive from Cannes. We have both travelled extensively and worked on yachts for 10yrs. We settled here for Mick's work. He continues to work in the yachting industry. I teach Yoga and HypnoBirthing from home. Nearly 3 yrs ago we bought a traditional French farm house. It was a holiday home for 40yrs, then rented, then squatted and then empty for 4 yrs prior to us falling in love with it. It hadn't been loved for a long time. We have done some petite renovations, we have done all the work ourselves but progress is slow and we'd love some help. Mick is a qualified wooden boat builder so is great with wood but also has a general knowledge of plumbing and electrics. I'm the resident tiler and plasterer! The 2,500 m2 garden was totally overgrown but now it really has a rustic charm with some yummy fruit and olive trees. The vegetable plot grows a little bigger each year. We are learning as we go and would love to learn from you. If you know anything about renovating, gardening, trees or vegetable growing - great. I would also love to practice my French so if you speak French that's a bonus but not essential.

Area: EnglandA not for profit organisation that runs a community cafe and outdoor residential centre in South East Cornwall. Our organisation is founded on strong environmental and ethical buying principles. The cafe is open from Spring to Autumn for locals and tourists and we run a number of family classes from it including pottery, forest school, foraging and traditional crafts. The residential centre is used by a variety of groups and individuals visiting the area. These groups may take part in activities organised by the centre or run their own programmes. We are situated in a small field where we hope this year to begin growing our own food and continue to develop outdoor play spaces for children. We also run conservation volunteering programmes working on preserving historical fortifications on site. Situated on land owned by the Rame Conservation Trust. The Rame Conservation Trust also hosts a camp site that opens in the summer, an old barracks building that contains artist studios and a small pub and theatre which open some nights a week. On a hill top overlooking the sea on the Rame Peninsula. The city of Plymouth is half an hour away by bus and foot ferry, we have several beaches, the nearest 10-15 minutes walk away. We are bordered on one side by beautiful parkland, on the other by woods. The beautiful Cornish villages of Kingsand and Cawsand are a short walk away. In your free time you can try surfing, paddle boarding, gig rowing or enjoy the city of Plymouth. We are in a rural area so the volunteering opportunity will suit best people who enjoy the countryside rather than the city life.
