Area: Languedoc RoussillonWe are an English couple in the south of France with 2 young friendly dogs and busy day jobs. We moved into a lovely old French house in November 2012. It was built in 1810 so there's plenty to do! and we would really appreciate at least 1 or 2 extra pairs of hands to help us progress things. Before contacting us, please check our Calendar for possible dates.
Area: GaliciaWe are a married couple who bought our old house here eight years ago when we were still living and working in Scotland. Our holidays for six years were spent on restoration work and we moved here permanently two years ago. We share our home with a large laid back German Shepherd and two hairy cats. We have very little routine to our lives, preferring to live life spontaneously and like nothing better than to jump on the motorbike and explore this special area of Spain. Consequently, work progresses slowly! Our house has three bedrooms and a large balcony along the front of the house where we tend to eat and socialise. We are both non smokers and try to eat well ( mostly vegetarian) and live healthily without being fanatical. We also have a garden where we attempt to grow our own organic fruit and vegetables.
Area: Rhineland-PalatinateWe live in a little village 100 km south of Frankfurt. I own a farm where I keep my animals who are all part of the family and not kept for financial purposes. Most of them were rescued and are therefore very dear to me. We live in a village with family and friends around but we both have jobs and often need to travel for business (my boyfriend is a musician) at the weekends. I'm 40 but young at heart, easy-going and love to have people around. I am a college teacher of English and German, so I speak English fluently. All the aupairs I have had so far spoke English, so basically English is the "house language". But since my boyfriend is Belgian, French is also spoken and I can manage stuff in Spanish, too. I am very active and outgoing, like to go riding, running, travelling and going to concerts/ festivals. That's why I need a responsible person to help during the week and who can also manage things when I am away for weekend trips or class trips/ holidays. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I GENERALLY PREFER TO HAVE SOMEBODY FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME AND THAT EXPERIENCE WITH AT LEAST HORSES AND CATS IS NECESSARY. For more details about the animals, pls check below. If you feel you are the right person, please contact me!
Area: AlentejoWe are recently retired and now live on a 10ha organic farm in Alentejo, Portugal. We are in the early stages of setting up the farm and so have lots of jobs and long term projects that we would like to acheive. For this we have decided that we do need some help to develop. We have pigs, sheep, turkeys, hens, ducks, tortoises and dogs. We grow most of our own food. We are in a very beautiful and rural area and you can develop the Portugese language with help from the locals who do not speak English! We are an hours drive inland from the Algarve and just 30 MILES from the stunning west coast beaches. Our village has no shops but the next village which is 6 km away as a small supper market. We have two little bars in the village. The village is very very quiet with very little nightlife so please don`t come thinking you are coming to a tourist resort. This place is for people who like been in touch with nature, and enjoy been apart from big cities. The farm is a working farm and at times is dusty or muddy depending on the weather so working boots and working cloths are essential. Our working day is usually from 7.30 until 1830 yes long hours(often this is just feeding and cleaning the animals but we do have plenty of breaks). If you require to do just the 5 hour days as workaway says this is not a problem just speak up and we will set you 5 ish hours work then you can do what you want. We do go to local shows ,markets and events and you are always welcome to come with us. I am afraid that we are not the busy resort on the coast so please make sure you read and study our profile before contacting us. Our nearest big town is Ourique which is about 12 km away.
