Area: Lower Normandy, MancheHi, we (Nicola & Garry) are originally from England and moved to France several years ago. We live in the countryside of Basse Normandy and run a (in summer very busy) Bed& Breakfast, 5 km from the beach. We have dogs, cats and 8 goats. We have a large garden and three fruit trees (at the moment, we have far too many apples:-) ). If possible, we grow our own vegetables. We make soap with the goats milk. And if you wish, Nicola could teach you how to make soap. We are need people, who have skills ,builders, carpenters, painters, landscape gardeners to help finishing our new house (the jobs that need to be done now are: carpentry, plaster boarding, electrics, first fix plumbing, electrics and also ground works). But you could also help with running our B&B, feeding, cleaning the goats, gardening (there is always something to do in the large garden) and other projects around our property. So, if you think you could help us (either with finishing the new house or with running the B&B, gardening, feeding the animals etc.), please contact us. We also need a person to rebuild a stone wall We are easy going and relaxed and it's a comfortable place to stay. The arrangement is flexible so if it's sunny and there is nothing important to do, go to the coast, take the day off...But if there is work that need to be done, we expect you to help us as much as you can. If you wish, you can discover the beautiful area, the mont Saint Michel is just about 100 Km and there are other beautiful cities (Cherbourg, Caen, Coutances...) you can easily reach by bus. There is also a bike you can take... If there is enough time, we can go together, take the car and visit the interesting places around here. We would like to integrate you as part of our family and, normally, we are taking all meals together and we like to cook together. But there is also enough privacy for you: You can stay at your own bedroom (in the B&B), whenever you want to. You have your own bathroom and a WIFI access. We usually converse in English, but can speak French to you...
Area: Nelson & Bays++++++ We're already fully booked for 2014 +++++++ Hi there! We are Andrew, Britta & little Elisa (born Nov 2013), a fun loving, easy going kiwi/german family, living in beautiful Golden Bay. We are located in Onekaka, right between Takaka and Collingwood. Nice and close to good swimming beaches, bush walks or the Abel Tasman and Cobb National Parks. We have a pretty big garden, perfect to hide away in a hammock and read a book (we dont have TV). We love to meet new people aund enjoy doing yoga and playing music. Specially Andrew is great on the guitar, bass guitar and the drums. As we are between the two main towns in Golden Bay we recommend to come by car. If you dont have one, we are happy to give you rides into town. It is important to say that we are vegetarian and prefer likeminded people. But we're open for everybody who would like to try a meatfree lifestyle. It would be good if you could stay for round about 2 weeks or longer if we all get on great. :) We really appreciate every message we get. But please don't contact us more than 2 months ahead of you're planned stay. We are a family, quite flexible and don't plan super far ahead. We know especially first time travellers like to organise their whole trip before they start. But believe us, these plans almost never work out. And that's a good thing! Just go with the flow. ;)
Area: Negev desertWe are a Jewish family living in the small artist's village of Ezuz in the beautiful Negev desert heights. Our home is full of activity with our 9th baby born in August and many guests from Israel and around the world passing by. I am originally South African and my husband Israeli. We both backpacked many years around the world and met during our travels when we were working as scuba diving instructors in the Sinai. Our favorite part of travelling was meeting people, so when we settled down we recycled 3 old buses into deluxe guestrooms and created a family hospitality business. Part of the help we need is to clean and prepare the guestrooms. In the near future we hope to plant an organic vineyard and make wine. Our garden has vines and fruit trees that grow on recycled water from our home and guestrooms and we have a natural pool for cooling down on hot summer days.
Area: KarnatakaWE acquired a 25 acre neglected coffee estate in the bb hills range. The farm is located at 1400 mts surrounded by shola forest and vast grasslands. We are in a highly eco endemic and sensitive zone and we endure to respect that. We have a lot of activities at the farm as any farm would but especially since we are converting into organic. We follow traditional polyculture system of agriculture with permaculture principles at the heart of it. We grow coffee, cardamom, wild pepper, jamun and experimenting with a lot more fruiting trees. Our current projects are sustainable home and guest house building stone and timber (october to feb), soil healing through terracing, composting mulching(all year round), bee sanctuary(nov-indefinitely), Food forest and reforestation(all year round), veggie garden(all year round), Micro hydel project (oct-dec 14'), seed bank and many more. We encourage our volunteer to innovate on some new creative projects that might add to what we are already doing or jump on any of the above projects as there is always work to be done on the farm.
Area: PiemonteWe are running a media project to promote a responsible tourism in our area, that is UNESCO World Heritage. We like to have sometime some traveller that is able and like to write reviews about local organizations or activities, after living, often an experience with the interviewed. We want someone that is able to express feelings and emotions by writing. The job will not take a lot of time, so you can have a lot free time. We host in private house and you can stay for a week. You also are responsible for the cleaning of yours and common spaces and you should manage your day, including food, by yourself. IMPORTANT Dont' send a request to us if: -YOU ARE MORE THAN ONE PERSON -YOU PLAN YOUR STAY HERE, MORE THAN A WEEK IN ADVANCE. WE ONLY ACCEPT LAST MINUTE REQUEST -YOU ARE A TOURIST -YOU ARE NOT INDIPENDENT There could be also a possibility that there is nothing to do, no one to meet, the sky is grey, so last but not least, your job will be, will be to enjoy your time in any conditions.
