    Description

We are a certified organic farm growing 20 varieties of seed garlic. Located on a secluded mountaintop at 3500′ we are a few miles from the Canadian border as the crow flies. Far from any electric lines and out of direct cell phone range, our homestead is a rare place to experience rural living in a peaceful environment. Guests will have the opportunity to experience what living off-grid is really like in a practical setting. We make our own power, pump our own water, grow most of our own food, and cook from scratch.

You can bring your own tent or we can provide you with a micro cabin. Either way you will be able to commune with nature in a quiet, beautiful setting. We have 60 acres, a pond, and acres of aspen woods along with access to miles of hiking and mountain biking terrain. Deer, wild turkeys, hawks, owls, grouse, and black bear can all be seen in the course of a season with us.

Our season starts in June and is busy through November. Of course, our main focus on the farm is garlic and there is the opportunity to learn about all aspects of garlic growing from cultivating weeds, harvesting, cleaning, packaging, and shipping to fall planting. In addition to our mountain farm we have garlic on a small 5-acre farm in the valley below. There are always a number of ongoing projects here, from beekeeping to cabin restoration to haying.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our home and 60 acre farm is located 12 miles up a gravel road so at first you may feel far from civilization but have no fear, we make frequent trips to town and in summer we do lots of swimming at nearby lakes. Across the border is the busy summer town of Osoyoos, a premier Canadian destination and a stark contrast to the ruralness of our small town, Oroville.

We moved to our mountain over 20 years ago where we started with nothing. We built our own home and barn, have learned everything from fencing to road maintenance to alternative power installation and have basically worked to figure out all of the aspects of off grid living that we need to survive. Noah, Heather, and our three children, welcome guests to come experience what rural life can offer and to become part of our family for the season and beyond.

Be warned, we love music and books. Guitars, mandolins, banjos, basses & grand pianos are all welcome!

    Cheers,
