Area: JämtlandHi there, we live in a big house of 800 m2 with a lake below and mountins behind, in Jormvattnet, a mountainvillage in north of Sweden. At the moment there are only two of us, Pexo and Maria. We have friends and family visiting often, so sometimes we are more people in the house. A soap and bodycare workshop also resides here. When we are more people living in the house we cook togheter and have gatherings around things that concerns the work of the house and what comes up in the proccess of living together. We like music and to socialise and to live the life we are offered here where the sun lights up the summer sky all night long and the winters are tough and booring :) Many possiblilities to walk in the forrest and in season (Aug-Sept) pick berries or mushrooms. Theres a canoe and bikes to borrow. Fishing is big up here. Moose and raindeer, even bear is not uncommonly seen. Wintertime can be grim and isolated with lots of snow, barrels of wood to haul and cold weather. But also cosy and calm with a live fire in the livingroom, sauna in the basement and lots of indoorsspace. Skiing and other winteractivities is best in March and April when the light is coming back. If interested, hit the mailbox. At the moment we are full until Februari 2015
Area: Otavalo, EcuadorMy name is Jose Cajas I live with my family in Iluman at the foot of the volcano Imbabura, Otavalo. It is an indigenous villiage. I have five children and pets such as dogs and cats. We also have chickens, cows and guinea pigs which are used for food. We live in harmony with nature, and cultivate ancestoral crops such as maize, beans, etc. and ovillas. I am currently building a cabin on my land. We are building the cabin out of natural and locally sourced materials. There are no other cabins in this region now, so it is a great opportunity to live with an Indigenous family and understand more of our culture and way of life We can also show you the route to the local volcanos, lakes and the Plaza de Ponchos in Otavalo if you wish. We really want to share our culture and also learn about the diverse cultures from other countries.
Area: British ColumbiaMy husband and I live in Vancouver and have had a cabin on 22 acres of beautiful, private land at the north arm of Shuswap Lake for 20 years. The property is off the grid with natural artesian spring water and hydro and solar power. It is a perfect place to enjoy nature and wildlife.... bears, deer, mouse, bald eagles, etc. with cross country skiing, snow shoeing, winter fishing and hiking available. We are now in the process of building three more wood cabins. We would also like some help at our Vancouver home, mainly garden work and house maintenance. We are very close to downtown.
