Help develop a sustainable project in Bali.

Description
We live by an old Balinese philosophy for sustainable living which refers to three paths to life balance, happiness and well-being - maintaining harmony with your fellow human beings, maintaining harmony with your god, and maintaining harmony with nature.
We Balinese endeavour to live by these life principles in a complex belief system that is rooted in our religion – Agama Hindu Dharma – that has evolved from the ancient Indian Hindu religion, from Buddhism and from pre-existing animist beliefs, including ancestor worship.
Our Foundation is reinvigorating the philosophy of harmony with nature, humanity, and divinity through hands-on environmental education and volunteer programs based on sustainability and permaculture principles.

Travail
We have largely completed a major construction project to build a new learning centre here at our base. We will teach sustainability practices, English and extra curricular subjects to local children and adults. There are opportunities for volunteers with teaching skills to bring new ideas and programs to our learning centre.
We also run hands-on permaculture workshops for expats and tourists whose fees subsidise the locals.
The building is made mostly of bamboo and you can see a satay stick scale model in the images here in our profile.
We have various tasks to be performed around our HQ as set out below, along with work to develop our model farm nearby.
Gardening and garden maintenance, including weeding, watering, potting up seedlings, plant identification and labelling, sorting seed for our seed bank;
Farm work, including helping to establish a demonstration rice farm with integrated aquaculture and the keeping of a cow, pigs and ducks;
Administrative duties including help with computer work;
Graphic design work;
English teaching and language practise;
Help with establishing an eco camping project;
General maintenance and repairs around the properties - handyman duties. (Someone with a few plumbing skills would be great!)

Logement
At this stage we have one basic room available to house volunteers working on our projects. We get many volunteers and the room is often in use. It's located upstairs in a two-storey Balinese family home - with a Balinese family living downstairs. It has a bathroom with a shower and western toilet. There is no hot water and you'll need your own towel.
It has a double bed and we have only limited bedding available - generally one sheet and some pillowcases. You'll need to be responsible for any washing of them while you're here. You'll also need to ensure the bed is stripped when you leave and, where possible, that the sheets are washed and put out to dry. There are mosquito nets available if required.
We don't provide meals but you are welcome to pick vegetables and herbs from our gardens. There are warungs (small eating houses) in walking distance where you can purchase local cooked food that is very cheaply priced.
We also have internet access. Please note that there are sometimes disruptions to the internet and to the power.

Autres choses...
We have 4,000 m2 of farmland in Pengosekan, Ubud, in easy walking distance from our HQ; 1 hectare in beautiful Jati Luih in Mid-West Bali; and 1.3 hectares on the small island of Nusa Penida where we hope to set up an eco campsite sometime in the future.
The farm land in Pengosekan is currently fallow and we're preparing to set up a permaculture model farm to educate those in our home village, including children at local schools, as well as visitors to Bali who are keen to see how we are working to create sustainable agriculture and eco-tourism projects to help our island.
We need labouring help to establish an integrated farm that includes rice, vegetable production, aquaculture, ducks, some small pigs, and a cow. We hope to build a solar dehydrator to process tomatoes and seed for our seed bank. We'd also like to build some basic accommodation there for volunteers.
We are cultivating native red rice in Jati Luih but there is currently no accommodation there. We need help to build a simple bamboo structure where people can camp and work the land. We also have a bamboo and fruit tree forest in Jati Luih.
The land at Nusa Penida is dry farm where we are producing corn, beans, cashew nuts. We have a long-term program to produce teak wood, with about 100 trees currently in our plantation.
