Hello! We are a British Bolivian family living in La Paz, Bolivia, in a beautiful semi rural village surrounded by the Andes, just 30 mins from the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city La Paz. The majority of our neighbours are Ayamara Indians and the area is characterised not only by the stunning natural surroundings but also a blossoming eco cultural tourist circuit. There is great trekking, mountain biking, horse back riding nearby as well as a very vibrant culutural agenda. My family and I have been involved in community projects for many years and we run an international volunter programme in our community and we are currently setting up a new camping ground on the beautiful mountain side where we live. We are a busy household and often have several international volunteers living in the grounds of our family home whilst they spend 1-3 months working on local projects. It is a very sociable and stimulating environment to share with so many committed people and we often have shared meals or culutral events which workawayers are welcome to join.

Area: Otavalo, Cotacachi

The farm is located 10 minutes from Cotacachi, 15 minutes from Otavalo, and 5 minutes from Quiroga. We have cows, pigs, chickens, cuyes, fish, dogs and cats. There are dogs and cats living in the house who roam all over (possibly your bed). We also have various garden areas which include fruit trees. We are working towards a reforestation project of native Andean trees and implementing permaculture practices. Shawn moved from Nebraska in 2008 and has been working on the farm since. I'm in my mid 30's and really love living in Ecuador and especially the farm. I have traveled a lot of Ecuador and definitely know the surrounding area of Cotacachi well. Lindsay is a former workaway volunteer who landed at the farm awhile ago and never left. She is a North Dakota native but spent the last 10 years in Atlanta Georgia before coming here. We have an Indigenous family living on the premises in a separate house that help with things as well. Interaction with the family, especially the children is encouraged and is a great opportunity to learn about the Indigenous culture and practice Spanish (even Quechua).

Area: British Columbia

We live on a cherry/apple orchard in beautiful Summerland, British Columbia located in the Okanagan Valley. We have very hot summers and are surrounded by mountain ranges, lakes, rivers. However we also live near several cities. The Okanagan Valley is known for its fantastic fruits and grape growing areas producing some of the world's finest wines. We have children and grandchildren and pets.

Area: Canary Islands- Fuerteventura

Hola! I consider myself a daughter of Mother Earth and Father Sun. I am a mother of a nine year old daughter and a ten year old son. We live in a rural area on the outskirts of the capital of Fuerteventura. I enjoy living in the countryside, where we have a greenhouse, garden and land to grow fruit and vegetables. During the year I teach art in school. My dream is to finish building a workshop here in my home with natural materials such as earth, wood, recyclables etc, and begin building a geodesic dome on the ground as a place to give classes, to teach and form a small school alternative, especially for children but also for older, meet, meditate, sing, play music, celebrate etc. Nací en Argentina, soy italiana de sangre, y me considero hija de la Madre Tierra y el padre Sol. Soy madre de una hija de nueve años y un niño de diez, vivimos en una zona rural, a las afuera de la capital de Fuerteventura. Me gusta vivir en el campo, tenemos una pequeña huerta, un jardín y terreno para cultivar frutales. Durante el año doy clases de arte en las escuelas. Mi sueño es terminar de construir un taller aquí en mi casa, con materiales naturales, tierra y madera y reciclaje, además de un domo geodesico en el terreno, para poder dar clases y formar una pequeña escuelita alternativa, para pequeños sobretodo pero también para grandes, y tener un sitio para encontrarnos para meditar, cantar, tocar música, festejar...

Area: Penticton, British Columbia

We are a couple heavily involved with all aspects of horses from a non-traditional perspective. Our home & farm is a work in progress & we have a busy life with gardens, fields & construction ongoing. We also own a horse related business in town. Our home is close to wilderness trails, with a view of the city and a short drive to town and beaches. Guests over the age of 18 who love horses and dogs (we have 5) would be best. Individuals who are interested in an internship with horse training and natural hoofcare are also encouraged.
