Région: British ColumbiaI am a retired, married man living in Oak Bay (a municipality of Victoria, BC). I have a professional background with an ongoing interest in sustainable living and environmental design. I moved to Oak Bay recently, and am now engaged in restoring my older home, where I live part-time. I enjoy outdoor activities of all kinds, particularly kayaking and cycling, which are ideally suited to the Victoria environment. My wife teaches at a community college and her children attend High School and University respectively. We are non-smokers, and consume alcohol very rarely.
Région: Abruzzi National ParkWe are a farmhouse located directly between Rome and Naples - 2 hours from each city. This area is well connected by trains, buses, and highways and is easily accessible to guests without a car. We are situated at the foot of a beautiful mountain in the Abruzzi National Park, close to ample hiking trails, pristine waterfalls. The park itself is known for its wide variety of interesting fauna including the marsicam bear, the wolf, the lynx, the roe, the deer, the Abruzzi chamois, and the Golden Eagle. Although we are a farm in a rural area, the town of Sora (about 35,000 inhabitants) is only 40 minutes away by foot. In Sora, you can hike to an old church and castle, visit the open air market on Thursday mornings, eat local cuisine (such as truffles) at the many restaurants, sample real Italian gelato, and go to the numerous cafés, pubs, and shops along the lively main street. This region is a real treasure: an undiscovered gem in one of the most beautiful parts of Italy.
Région: Nairobi KenyaWe are a non-profit making Community Based Organization registered in Nairobi Kenya offers support to orphans and vulnerable children in slums area of Nairobi. The organization supports selected families with basic needs supply, fight drug and substance abuse in the community and distribute sanitary towels to needy girls in slums. Our organisation was established in 2009 with Former Street boy Erick as a give back gesture to the society for having survived the tough time in slum dwelling, street living and then eventually rescued and rehabilitated in children's home. In slum, where most people live below the poverty line, children’s education takes back seat. Poverty, underdevelopment, mass illiteracy, ignorance, rural backwardness and conservatism cause a majority of children in slums to be deprived of their basic right to education. Various other social problems such as child marriage, trafficking and discrimination leads toward the undermining of children’s right to Education. In this scenario, our organisation has been trying to ensure orphans and vulnerable children in slums have been provided with education support.

Région: Washington StateUPDATE: At the moment we are not accepting any more volunteers due to varying reasons. The biggest reason being too little time to give to the volunteer program, almost no time at all in fact! Which is no fun for anyone. Thanks all who came to help and sorry to the people that wrote looking to stay. We [My father and I] own a beef farm in the middle of Washington State. The business is young and there is lots to do! We are looking for volunteers to come stay during the summer months and possibly the winter in exchange for help with general animal care and visual marketing of our small local farm. Work can vary from general upkeep of the property, animal care, art projects, landscaping, clearing out and organizing a barn/shed, restoring boats, creating a bountiful garden, basic house duties, cooking meals, helping out at the weekly farmers market, as well as helping create an artistic side building out of recycled materials. Any help is appreciated without a strict or rigorous work schedule, just a few hours some days. You would be located in a recreational mecca in the middle of the Cascade mountain range. Hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, boating, etc. There are two towns within 4 miles of the farm, easy access to the touristy bits by car, bike, walking, or even using an inner tube to float on the river. As well there is a strong local vibe among the community. The last 60 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail is within easy driving access. An absolutely beautiful place to come explore! There is one extra bedroom to sleep in, although if you are interested in embracing the fresh mountain air, sleeping outside is also an option- the summer nights are definitely warm enough and we live in a wonderful place to see the stars. Occupants of the house are: Andrew-15 years old Amber-21 Wayne- 57 - Retired wildfire firefighter Various animals- cocker spaniel, pig, chickens, cats, sheep, turkeys, ..cows What we can teach you: Local-ism, Wayne speaks Guitar pretty fluently and could teach you a thing or two, Italian cooking, organic farming, beautiful spots around the local area We have books, bikes, boats, and brown hair Come join our family for a bit!
