Area: OaxacaWe live in a very rugged part of the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. There are four main indigenous groups within 20 miles of here.........Mazatec, Nahuatl, Mixtec & Chinatec.....................and for each there are quite a number of dialects. We have been growing mushrooms for over 15 years. We sell oyster mushrooms to the locals, and we also make different formulas with medicinal mushrooms. Originally we grew all the different mushroom varieties in our formulas. However, with Time, and more experience we have begun to make our capsules with products in conjunction with Aloha Medicinals, from Carson City, Nev. USA.........as some of the mushrooms we require for our formulas will not fruit in our climate. Nonetheless, growing mushrooms is somewhat labor intensive, and requires strength within and without. Our oyster mushrooms are quite famous in the region and when they are available sell like hot tamales......oftentimes being sold before we even get to town. We also practice acupuncture and have a steady flow of patients from the surrounding area. Our medicinal mushroom teas featuring reishi, shitake etc. are very complimentary to our acupuncture therapies. We eat fantastic organic food, some grown here, some from the local Indians. And although we occasionally consume meat, it is generally wild such as deer or tepescuintle, or wild boar, we also eat goat soup about once a month or so. We especially are looking for people with mycological experience with live cultures.
