Help
Large acreage within the rainforest in Costa Rica half hour from the main town of San Ramon
We are looking for folks (familys welcome) that have CONSTRUCTION experience - We are in the process of remodeling -
Magical private cloud forest reserve is looking for master carpenter to do extensive remodeling of structures with very strong and solid “bones”. Some electrical and plumbing experience would also be very useful.
Workawayer(s) will have full use of separate apartment with kitchen and bathroom in the very building where the majority of work is needed. As there is a full kitchen with all equipment, meals will be the responsibility of the worker(s). (Food provided) This is an ideal opportunity for a couple.
Agreed upon workaway hours will be followed by free time, which will include the unique and exclusive use of the forest trails that wind through the primary forest. Keep in mind, this is the same mountain range and ecosystem as the world famous Monteverde Park, but ours is exclusive for our use only! When your chores are done for the day, you will have a chance to visit the cloud forest like few others.
While the construction work will be the main objective of this arrangement, on the rare occasion that we might have to be away overnight, we have three friendly dogs and other household chores that would need to be looked after as well.
Two weeks would be a good starting point, with the chance for extension beyond that very likely for the right candidate. (Keep in mind, we will only be hosting an experienced master carpenter or equivalent at this time.)
We are sure that the satisfaction of being part of a conservation effort to protect primary cloud forest and it’s many inhabitants, as well as the completion of needed remodeling will offer the successful candidate(s) as much “pura vida” as possible.
The apartment is awaiting your arrival, once all the details can be worked out with you!
Future Projects:
Additionally we would like to create a butterfly garden around the property, and vegetable garden.
Additional jobs are Creating paths through the rainforest, creating signage, identifying trees, plants etc., Lake management, Cement experience, solar and hydro powering experience. Tree house experience, Artists that could do murals and mosaic walkways. And breaking horses which have not been ridden for years.
We would expect 4.5 hours of work 5 days a week and are flexible to work days/time out that allows you to explore country.
The property is close to San Ramon well known in Costa Rica for its tight-knit, diverse community which has been home to three former presidents. Its main industry is dairy farming, sugar cane and of course coffee plantations.
Butterfly and flower in the rain forest Rolling hills and pastures give way to pristine tropical cloud forests in the highlands, noted for their variety of epiphytes, mosses and over 225 species of birds. It is a University town with museums and all amenities you need. Buses from San Ramon can get you to all destinations.
Our property is at the top of a ridge surrounded by rain forest, beautiful views of the valley below to the Pacific Coast. There is wifi ( not 100% at this time, but working on improving) and comfortable lodging.
There is a lake on the property as well as various rain forest trails.Languages spoken
