Area: We are located on the beach front of Klong Dao on the beautiful Island of Koh Lanta in the south of Thailand, the sunsets are great! There are motorbikes and bicycles for rent, so you can easily discover this great Island on your free time. Other things to do: Lanta is a diving paradise! Snorkeling trips, Biking, Yoga, Meditation, Jogging on the beach, doggie walks at our animal shelter, and enjoying the laid back atmosphere. Luckily Lanta is not over populated with charter tourists like Phuket and Koh Samui. Keep in mind that it is a tropical country so the heat can be intense and humid, particularly between 11.00 and 16.00.Hard work since 2002 has brought us to where we are today - a successful beachfront concept on Koh Lanta with a unique approach and a different “way of thinking” than other places. A few things make us stand out from the crowd: 1. Our COMPASSION for animals in distress on the island. Our profits go to the animal welfare charity that the owner founded. 2. Our true PASSION for food and a desire to create a laid-back, and welcoming atmosphere for people from all around the world. Our place consists of: - A professional and fun open-air creative Thai Cooking School - A good but small restaurant one of the best on the Island, we serve a 6 dish Tasting menu that changes every day. - A small beach bar, with great cocktails (the talk of the town) - 9 cozy basic budget bungalows for people to rent, who appreciate what we are doing. - Our place is recommended in almost all world wide guide books - The old animal shelter was also here before until we built the new one 6 years ago which is 10 min. away with motorbike from us. We still do have some rescue animals here, at the moment 6 dogs and 23 cats. Junie Kovacs, the owner of this business and the founder of the animal welfare centre, gives everything she owns to the welfare of animals and lives a very simple life. By volunteering with us, YOU help to support the work of our Animal Welfare centre, get to know more about the Thai culture, people, the amazing food, also socializing with volunteers at our animal welfare centre. VOLUNTEER POSITIONS: 1. RECEPTION HELP (from March 10 2015 until May 1 2015) 2. HELP FROM A FOODIE (from Oct. 1 2014 until May 1 2015)
Area: VictoriaWe are a family of 4 living a full life in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. We have travelled and lived overseas in India for 2 years. We enjoy the company of travelers and had people stay before. Tim works in a trade trading school part time and from home part time. Becca is an Occupational Therapist and works part time. Our teenage children study at the local high school and are learning Japanese and French. We try to live a sustainable life connected to our community. We are involved in our community through the school, a local scout group and the local church. We usually eat together around the table and enjoy playing board games. We have a number of projects on the go in our garden and house. Working on these projects and general help in running the household is what we are looking for. We are interested in hearing what skill you might have to share.
Area: CaliforniaPlease note that we have recently arranged a workaway exchange for the summer and are not currently seeking anyone for other dates. We will update this post when that changes. We are a family of 5 living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our kids, age 10 (boy), 7 (girl) and 5 (boy), love outdoor activities like skateboarding and riding bikes, as well as art, music, reading and playing games. We love spending time with friends and traveling when we can. Our house is walking distance from parks, shops, the library, a movie theater, etc. Alameda is an island city in the San Francisco Bay, and it is easy to get to San Francisco by BART (train/subway), bus or ferry. The bus to SF stops a few blocks from our house. We are also very close to Berkeley and Oakland. My husband and I both lived oversees growing up. We have hosted exchange students and love our kids to learn about different countries and cultures.
Area: Wales, CarmarthenshireSheila, Cliff, Joel 19 and Max 16 live on a small organic smallholding, growing fruit, veg and fire wood! The whole family is very alive, working hard and playing hard!! - but we rarely drink and go to bed pretty early so not that kind of playing!! We are keen mountain bikers, and have some amazing trails near us. We also like walking and climbing and would enjoy showing visitors the sights! We have lived in our home for 17 years and home schooled 4 children here! We are mainly vegan (not in a judgmental way!) and have baked our own bread for 20 years. We are looking for a couple to come because with both our sons are out during the day it can be pretty lonesome for a single young person. We certainly don't expect you to work full time, ideally we would like people who are willing to get up and at it and have the afternoon off, or morning off depending on what we are doing. We would like people who are strong and capable of working without too much supervision. Hope to hear from you :)
