New volunteers required through 2012....
We need skilled workers in Plumbing, carpentry, electrics. plastering, building, painting etc. Aslo willing labourers who are prepared to help. We are refurbishing a very rundown 14 bedroom country hotel which will be transformed into EUROPES VERY FIRST Holiday Centre to cater EXCLUSIVELY for disabled and special needs children and their families and carers to take a holiday abroad, for the first time in their lives.
There are plans to build a zoo, sensory gardens fun planting areas and education centre so any skills in these projects will be welcome.
We are also filming this adventure and there is a good chance a documentry will be made for UK tv, We are a UK based charity and are working on a budget so cannot afford time wasters or people looking for a lazy holiday so PLEASE only serious workawayers please apply. Our accomodation is clean and tidy and the food is good. We are a friendly bunch and like to keep a happy atmosphere on site. All our rooms are clean and tidy and we offer breakfast, lunch and evening meal. All rooms are for 2 people and each has a shower and toilet. We have a large lounge with SKY TV cards darts books games DVD etc. We also have WI-FI and a computer for those who need access. There is a swimming pool with sunbeds and many outside areas to chill out. We ask every body to help out monday to friday with the evenings and weekends free to discover the local area. Hours alternate throughout the year depending on season. Nearest village with bars chemist supermarket etc 10 minutes walk. Nearest town is 10 minutes by car and we can most of the time offer a lift. Faro is 20 minutes away by car. Beach and ria formosa nature reserve 10 minutes by car.

very late feedback but just a great place.... made greats friends and some family to... great sneaky trips to the shop wit mum (liz) for a few buts and would have to drop into the local bars on the way back! nights by the pool plying trivia! not the best at the game but love Amy lil sis enough to play it the whole time! hoping to get back someday! more
We have just finished a month here and loved every minute the place is wonderful. A big thank you to Tom and Belinda for being the best hosts and the project is looking fantastic .... It was our first time in Portugal and it won't be the last. A big hug to all our new friends and workaways ... come on you Spurs.

My first workaway. I stayed for seven weeks and enjoyed my stay a lot. I was fed well and atmosphere was always good. It is a bit remote with only a small village near by but you can always count on a lift to closest cities. Andrzej, was a good worker and a pleasure to have on site. Often showed skills that were much appreciated. Has a good sence of humour once you get on his wave length. Not sure about his Bongo's
Sarah was a great volunteer and comes across very shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she is very funny and was a joy to have around. Sarah helped with painting, animal care, laundry, cooking and cleaning and Sarah can turn her hand to most things, once she is shown. We would highly recommend Sarah to any host.
This was my first workaway, and It was fantastic. Some of the work was hard and yet other times it was easy. Your fed so well there, Maybe too well..lol.

This was my first workaway experience and I had a wonderful time with the family and other volunteers. I was well fed (perhaps too well fed? haha) and had a very comfortable bed/ place to stay. The work was sometime difficult, but at other times easy, and Belinda always makes sure that everyone is comfortable/well hydrated, etc. I hope to come more

Belinda, Tom and Andy, and all the gang, it was a great experience working at Centre Algarve. Everyone is treated so well, with comfortable rooms and lots of good food. There is work for all types, both indoor and outdoor.

Soooo good. There was a wide variety of work to be done, the shifts were typically 9:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00 mon-fri. On the weekends we got to explore the local area which was nice.Tom and Belinda, and all the other volunteers were very friendly and easy to talk to. Had a great time at the Centre. Belinda and Tom are very nice and care a lot about you. They made sure I had a comfortable stay and always enough to eat.
Normally there is quite a big group of volunteers, so it never gets boring and it was great to meet and exchange with all those interesting people.
