We are a non-profit intentional community.
It is the home of 15 adults, 2 young teenagers and a baby who live, work and have fun together. We live together because by sharing and cooperating, we manage to live more lightly on the land and our lives are enriched in many ways.
We are privileged to live in a large manor house in rural Devon with 6 acres of land, historic walled gardens and orchards and a paddock which is used for camping. We grow as much of our own food as we can in the walled gardens, outside and indoor growing spaces, including two poly-tunnels and a greenhouse. We also keep chickens and bees.
Everything we do is developed with an awareness of the impact of our work and lives on the environment. We recycle as much waste as we can and strive to reduce our consumption of energy. We grow our own vegetables and fruit organically. We have compost toilets which we encourage visitors to use, and we process our sewage with a reed bed sewage treatment system.
We have a biomass boiler and wood-burning stoves for heating, as well as a wind turbine and solar panels.
We regularly host volunteers to help us and to be able to share our lovely space, to share skills and experiences and to enable people to see what living in a community is like. We love the new energy that volunteers bring and we value what they contribute and the cultural exchange.
If you would like to book a place on one of our volunteer fortnights then please contact us with a little bit of information about yourself, what skills you have to share and any previous experience of volunteering or community living.
