Volunteering in Gers, France
Description
We are looking for volunteers 2 weeks at the time; in November 2011 and as from January-March 2012....We look for wood workers mostly who have some building skills as we will be installing a kitchenette in one of our rooms (some plumbing and electricity experience needed). Please only react if this fits your skills.
We, Charles (USA) and Caroline (NL) have moved to South West France in 2005 with our daughter, Miya(now 16) for a better quality of life. Our businesses are located in a beautifully restored old farm house in Gascogne style (wooden beams with chaux). Caroline runs the Bed & Breakfast and self catering apartment and Charles has an acupuncture practice. He gives workshops in Tai-Chi Chuan and Zen Shiatsu. Most of the guests are from England, Holland or Belgium and some from France.

From November to end of March there are hardly any guests and this is the time we use to rebuild, rennovate.Opportunities are available for people with skills in carpentry, building, general maintenance, painting, and gardening. Ideally, we would like you to stay for 2 weeks and if things work out, we can then extend it.
From April to September is our high season at the B&B so no projects can be done and no volunteers can stay.
We would like some one who is cheerful, helpful and with interest in people (there could be some other guests).

You have your own room with private bath room with 2 single beds on the first floor of the main house and own entrance.

Meals: delicious, plentiful but we would like you to show and cook your favorite meals as well.Help with the daily cleaning is appreciated
Tai-chi classes: you can follow any course that would go on during your stay
WIFI Internet: yes (bring your own laptop)
Bicycle: yes
Hikes: yes
Free time: 2 days (usually Weekends but is flexible)
Work time: about 5-6 hours per day (variable).
French language course: french intensive course(20 hrs of conversation with different group levels for 170 euro p.p.) in nearby Mirande during French school vacations. You could stay 2 weeks before and help out and then finish with this course if dates coincide and help a little with daily tasks.

Phillip has been an excellent volunteer, very conscientious, precise and a pleasant person to be around with. He is more than welcome to come back another time around!
