Area: Eastern LiguriaHi! Our "family" is made up of Franco and me (Martina), plus our friend Pippo who is always cooking fantastic typical italian food for us (and for you)! We have a lively bed&breakfast in the countryside (700 m above sea level) in a beautiful, wild place in the Province of Genoa. We are at the foot of the highest peaks of ligurian appennines (Parco Naturale dell'Aveto) and still very close to the seaside (about 1/2 hour to reach Chiavari; Portofino, Genoa and Cinque Terre take about an hour to go).
Area: CataloniaHI WORKAWAYERS! WE NEED SOME HELP! We are a small family: my daughter aged 12, me, her mother, and Melis our cat. We live in la Garriga, a small, nice town with thermal water and modernist buildings, there's also a theater and a cinema. It's close to a natural park, you'll enjoy it very much if you like to hike. La Garriga is 50 minutes away by train from the center of Barcelona. We enjoy very much this cultural and personal exchange that happens when a workawayer comes home. It's like travelling and being at home at the same time, braking the routine while keeping up with daily life.
Area: LeinsterWe (Amandine & Matt, late 20's) are part of a smallholding/marketgarden/nursery/farm shop on 6 acres in the wee county (Louth). We have a recent background in permaculture, organics, vegan lifestyle and consciousness shift towards a more localised economy, putting down roots here on Matt's folks family plot. If you are a volunteer with an interest in sustainability, local food & seed sovereignty, growing, harvesting, eating or preserving food, clean air and water, and have some energy to give, this project may suit you. We volunteered on farms in Australia, Portugal, France and Ireland and love meeting down to earth people. We did so to learn how to care for the land through the eye's of peoples places and experiences and it is in that spirit that we consider the work-away exchange. We live a simple life, our inspirations come from Permaculture, the transition movement, local food security & seed sovereignty. We are propagating shrubs and trees for fruit, to improve the shelterbelts & guerilla tree planting, and for sale maybe. The world needs more trees, fact. (especially Ireland, only 11% forest cover!) A commercial forest garden/orchard is in the early stages of planning, with nuts down the line when we can plant on more land. We live one mile from the beach and go on walks, cycling & camping trips when the weather allows, we also love preparing/cooking & eating vegan meals, listening and playing music, reading... hanging out in the hammocks by the stove. Also on the land, Matt's brother Dan grows salads and imports fruit & veg, Matt's parents, Vincent & Julie, run a cut flower and pot plant nursery, sold at the shop and local markets. There is a cat, a goose and a dog here too.
Area: BergenWe are a couple with no children, who have a small farm about 35 minutes from Bergen by car/train. This place is by a fjord with mountains and a nice scenery. We can only take one workawayer at the time. Wifi. We are non smokers, and prefer to keep this place a no smoking sone.
Area: Chiriquí ProvinceWe are a hostel for adventure, we offer all kinds of fun and information for travelers. We offer an atmosphere of good vibes. We are situated in Boquete, a small town tucked into the green mountain highlands of Panama, in western-most Chiriquí Province, about 60 km. from the border with Costa Rica. Because of its altitude, some 1,200 metres above sea level, its climate is refreshingly cooler than that of the lowlands. Its scenic location, temperature, and natural environment make it an extremely enjoyable place to visit.
