We, Willem and Edith, are two former Dutch judges who changed tracks in 2008. After 30 years working for the public interest, we wanted to dedicate ourselves to another passion, arts. We have always had a wide interest in arts. We searched more than 3 years to find the ideal spot in Italy and started a centre for creative and culinary courses. We are located on a historical site on a distance of 6km from the village of Ficulle. 4km white/dirt track. You can find the tracks of the Etruscans who lived here 3000 years ago. The caves which they scarved are still in use, for example as communal kitchen. Stunning views up to Orvieto's cathedral. No visible neighbours. Silence apart from sounds of nature: birds, frogs, toads are oly a few examples. You might see squirrels,foxes,porcupines, wild boars. Plenty of fruit trees(picking allowed). Dazing smells of lovely flowers, several ponds with waterlillies and lotus. There are loads of possibilities for your free time: 'dolce far niente',walking,rambling,biking,horsbackriding,sightseeing,swimming, sailing. Several swimmingpools in de neighbourhood. Lakes: Trasimeno,Corbara,Bolsena. Historical towns:Orvieto,Todi,Città delle Pieve,Perugia,Assisi,Cetona,Montepulciano,San Casciano dei Bagni,Bolsena,(città)Bagnoreggio. Etruscan necropolis+archeological sites. Sculpture parcs,Museums,wine,olive oil,delicious regional traditional food. Rome 1 hr. Florence 1,5 hrs. by train. Both coasts appr. 2hrs. by car. Living here for more than 5 years we got to know the area and the people pretty well. We are most willing to guide you to secret places which you would not have found on your own.

Area: California

A Foundation and Retreat Center is located on 210 acres in the California hills of Sonoma County. The area is extremely bio-diverse and home to rare plants and habitats. The retreat center is a place stewarded primarily by GBTQ men for spiritual growth, personal development, body work, erotic work, community, movement and more. Half the groups who present here however are groups lead by women, and non-exclusive groups of men and women from all orientations and gender expressions. The community is warm and friendly. Staff and other volunteers are typically independent, and come here to pursue personal goals while supporting sacred space

Area: Rocky Mountains, Alberta

If you would like to spend some time in a quiet part of the Canadian Rockies, come and help with our whitewater rafting company! As of March 13, 2013, we only have openings after August 15th, 2013. We do have cancellations sometimes, so please send us an email to see if we have had any cancellations. We do try and reply promptly to all messages, but we get quite a few emails from this site, and it is a very busy time of year for both of us. It may take up to a week to get a reply, but we WILL respond! Short-term volunteers help with general cleaning, driving vehicles, washing wetsuits, prepping food, doing yard work, and office work and many other slightly boring jobs! But you will join a fun and friendly staff of young people. Besides the usual room and food, there are free rafting trips (we try and get you on 1-2 rafting trips per week), staff excursions and access to hiking, camping, backcountry backpacking and kayaking (we have gear experienced and responsible users can borrow), and exploring the mountains. We are just outside Willmore Wilderness Park and 2 hours from Jasper National Park. During the off-season the rivers freeze over so we don't usually go rafting! Volunteers at this time of year help with office work, painting, organizing, gear maintenance, etc. We include you on any personal trips we do, and help you get out and explore the area. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing opportunities are plentiful, and we have gear we lend people. Please contact us with any and all questions!

Area: central

We are Gijs, Linda and Carlos, and run a camping in Central Portugal where you will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of running a small rural camping, located 9 kms from the historic city of Tomar and one hour.s drive from Lisbon. Here we attract a variety of international visitors - chalet, caravan and tent guests who you will be able to assist with registrations and payments in addition to offering local tourist information and advice. In the mornings we need assistance with feeding and walking the animals, cleaning duties around the camping, laundry and chalet preparation. Occasionally there will also be maintenance or gardening chores to be undertaken. In the late afternoons the children like to walk with the animals or help with their feeding. In the evenings our guests enjoy to chat over a drink at the bar-terrace and on certain evenings we offer Camp Dinners to bring everyone together which you will be able to help prepare and serve.

WECCARE FOUNDATION is a non profit association of people of all works of life with the view of providing healthcare, education and doing community based projects to alleviate poverty, bring help to the physically challenged and underprivileged persons and provide opportunities for the vulnerable child. The Association has been in existence for about ten years in its activities but was formally registered as a non profitting/charity body in 2012.
