Area: melbourneABOUT OUR ISLAND: Imagine a landscape with no power poles, no sealed roads and no shopping strips. Only 65kms from Melbourne. The 82 residents on the island live under very special circumstances. With no local government, no churches, no mains electricity or water and not even a policeman, self-sufficiency is a necessity. The lack of infrastructural development makes this colony a curious phenomenon lost in time. Beautiful native flora and fauna, rarely seen elsewhere, flourish here. National Park covers approximately 70% of the island and boasts the most dense disease-free koala population in the world, not to mention 260 bird species, 600 plant species and 100 native orchids. It is not only listed in the Register of the National Estate, but has also received the highest rating from the National Trust, a classification reserved exclusively for parts of the physical environment considered to be essential to the heritage of Australia. If you love nature, you’ll love it. Our company is set up to solve 80% of the worlds environmental problems through a biodynamic organic ecosystems. In addition we have women's retreat to help them be free from depression and anxiety and the owner has wrote a book for feminine freedom.

Area: British ColumbiaSorry, no help needed for the rest of 2013 and 2014 - I am traveling myself. Bon Voyage to all! An American in Canada, I am a single female, emergency veterinarian living with a cat who, with the help of my various workawayers and couchsurfers is becoming more and more social and 2 year old border collie cross who is mellow for his type, but still needs plenty of exercise and has, generally, loved all my visitors. I co-own a 3 unit 100 year old character home with another couple in the heart of Victoria only a block from the ocean. Due to a change in their work circumstances, my co-owners have moved away leaving me with lots to do around the house prior to my own departure in October. I have traveled to approximately 30 countries mostly in Asia and Europe. Originally from Northern California, I have lived in Brooklyn, NY, Taiwan, Hong Kong and now Canada. Waiting for the universe to tell me where I should go next. When not working I am gardening, hiking, and doing anything I can to get the dog tired. I've recently joined a sailing group and am planning a few camping trips this summer. I will be heading to Europe for 4 months in the fall. I've really enjoyed working with and getting to know my workawayers this summer. What a great opportunity for us all!
Area: Western AustraliaMy Husband and I have a small farm of just over 5 acres. primarily we have horses and a large vegetable garden with young fruit trees. there are 3 of us living at home. Myself, Husband Graham, Daughter Mikyla 26. We have three horses and various, dogs, cats and chickens. We are pretty easy going and relaxed and seldom run to a timetable. the days here can start quite early. In the summer months very eary(5.30am) this is so we are not working on the heat. the advantage is we then get to finish earlier and have most of the day free to ourselves. However mostly you can choose when you do the jobs, except feeding times.
