Area: RiogordoWe are early retired teacher/lecturers and have owned our Spanish home for eighteen years. We renovated the Cortijo for two years and created a beautiful garden with terraces. Beyond we have olives, almonds, nisbros, figs, orange and lemon trees. We have family in the UK and they love to visit. Our area is in the countryside of La Axarquia. and it is tranquil but also busy with farmers working the land. There are rolling hills of olive and almond trees. We have views to the mountain of La Maroma and to the mountain top village of Comares. Riogordo which is typical white washed village is four kilometres away. Nature is wonderful here and yet we are less than thirty minutes from the coast. In the UK we ran English Language and Art courses in the summer and here we rent our Cortijo mainly in the high season. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Area: Tasmania - North EastWe are looking for helpers to go gardening and general tidy ups around the house and farm there maybe some packaging work in the cheese factory as well. We are a commercial goat dairy milking 200 goats in the North East of Tasmania. We also have a small cheese factory located on the farm. There is always things to be done around the farm.
Area: AsturiasThe Donkey Home in Asturias near the Picos de Europa mountains consists of a house, stables, caravans for volunteers, apple orchards, woods and meadows - in total ca. 8 ha. This project, set up by Dutch national Marleen, welcomes volunteers preferably for longer periods (minimum stay one month) as getting to know the 20+ donkeys does take some time. The vast area of land and the stables also need attention. This is a home for old, retired donkeys. There are also several horses and mules, 4 dogs and 4 cats.
Area: CanterburyWe live at the bottom of the Canterbury foothills on a small farm with our three children, two girls (7 and 5 years) and a boy (2 years). We moved into our newly build house last year and there are plenty of things going on around the place to keep us busy. We live about 60 kms from Christchurch near the main highway between Christchurch and the West Coast. We are only 30 minutes from the closest skifield and are surrounded by many lakes, rivers and walkways. Susan works fulltime in Christchurch so can provide a ride in on most days if required. We all enjoy meeting new people and learning about other cultures and see this as a great opportunity to show our children that there are lots of people out there who live differently to us.
Area: QueenslandCurrent availability is from 1 May 2014 onwards We run a small, boutique B&B in a fabulous setting right in the Daintree Rainforest in Tropical Far North Queensland just north of the Daintree River Ferry. We are on a 5 acre site and are trying to grow our own fruit and veges organically. There are 22 guinea fowl, 5 chickens (need more as some have been taken by pythons and bromeny kites) 2 dogs and a cat. We are constantly raising new chicks and keets every month which seems to have become my hobby. We need help with day to day running of the B&B, maintenance, gardening and completion of some projects so there is an interesting and varied task list. Lots of time off to explore the rainforest and reef, go fishing, kayaking etc.
