Area: YucatánHello, and welcome to our permaculture proyect We are in development of a permaculture learning centre in the heart of the Yucatán peninsula. As of February 2014, we are working as a family farm, we strive to produce as much of our food in the vegetable garden and food forest (both in very promising, early phases). Some of our activties include: Jungle agroforestry - forest and edible species in a food forest Habitat regeneration/conservation - reforestation, protection of wildlife Organic/regenerative horticulture Free range poultry - chickens, ducks, geese Beekeeping - traditional and endemic "melipona" or stingless bees Eco-building - earth, wood, stone, vines, recycled materials, etc. Arts and crafts from natural materials Courses - sustainability, permaculture, construction, healing, etc. We are also working on a project to help regenerate and preserve the Yucatán jungle around us.
Area: ParaibaSince I was 17 years old, I knew I'd live in the nature, respecting and experiencing it. My name is Júlio, but everyone knows me as Julíndio, as I'm from Pará, in the Amazonia forest, a place of many different indigenous tribes in Brazil. I have lived in different cities until arriving in the Paraiba state, almost 20 years ago, located in the Northeast of Brazil. After an experience in an ecovillage, I'm now in a beautiful big land where I'm building up a new ecovillage, with an ecotourism complex based on the permaculture philosophy - The Territorio Macuxi. Macuxi is an indigenous tribe from Amazonia where I was born. It's a reference to our origin and the purpose of our environmental protected area - live in harmony with nature, just like indigenous people have always been. The Territorio Macuxi is placed in the South cost of Paraíba, 30 minutes from Joao Pessoa, the capital, in a beach called Jacuma. It's a great nature preserved area where me and my family are transforming a dream into reality. You will have a great experience in the nature, understanding a little about it, changing cultures and meeting people not only from Paraiba, but also from all over the world.
Area: MallorcaPLEASE ONLY CONTACT US IF YOU CAN SPEND AT LEAST 3 MONTHS HERE. We are looking for help with some of the work around the house and cooking (the recipes you will follow are in English but very easy). We are a young family of 4, Jeremy, Maria, Gabriel and Lolo, our very small dog. We speak English at home, live in the country with a good amount of outdoor space and tranquility but are 2 minutes from the third largest city in the center of Mallorca (Inca). We are also 20 minutes from the capital of the island (Palma). We own a business (meal delivery to client's offices and homes) in Boston that we manage from here. We don't eat animal products (if you need to eat cow/goat's milk, eggs, cheese, etc. you will have to buy them yourself, sorry it's a matter of philosophy of life). We eat macrobiotic food. A macrobiotic diet helps with many health conditions: cholesterol, blood pressure, asthma, anemia, sugar cravings, arthritis, digesting problems, autoimmune diseases, psoriasis, diabetes and even cancer. If you want to improve any disease you could have it would be a great learning experience for you and you probably get better or heal completely. We have had workawayers who recovered from many different diseases and they all felt much better eating this way (had more energy, slept better, were more focused, etc.). First they are scared they are not going to enjoy the food but when they try it they are surprised eating healthfully can be so delicious. They usually say they didn't like vegetables before they ate our recipes and then they say that it's the way we cook vegetables that make them so enjoyable. Our food is not 100% macrobiotic. We "macrotize" recipes from all over the world but we are influenced mostly by the Mediterranean flavors. Another advantage Mallorca has in this regard is that it is very international and so there are many opportunities to immerse yourself in different languages.
