House in Forest-village near London
Description
If you are enjoying woodwork, gardening, using your imagination on an unusual project, then we'd love to hear from you.
The house was build in 1831 and became a doctor's surgery in the 1980th. A 150 years of healing history later, we're creating a medicinal garden. See the photo which shows an Astrological circle where you will be walking under vines and roses once it's all fully grown.
You'll find yourself in the centre of an international village, with pubs from 1452, to a film society, to music festival only 50 minutes by train from London.

Hi David, we miss you! It was absolutely awesome to have you in our family. Good luck in your new job. We'll meet again! With lots of love from Mieke, Elly and Nicky
Hi Jennifer and Juan, our house is empty without you guys, can't wait to meet up somewhere in the world soon. Thank you for every bit that you have contributed over the last 5 weeks, it has been a treat to have you both here. An extra big hug from Little Monkey Nicky, Elly and mummy Mieke
It has been a while since my time with Mieke and her wonderful household, but the lapse in time has only increased the fondness of my memories.
Mieke has created a warm, comfortable environment, full of love and positive energy where you will undoubtedly feel incredibly welcomed and at home.
The area is very beautiful and scenic, and Forest Row more

Claire, you were our first workawayer and it was such a fabulous experience that 2010 has been a continuous workaway-ers home. My children always say that all young women having stayed with us got married soon after...........well done you too Claire! And what a lovely man.
By the way Claire, remember we talked about you putting your signature on more

An adorable family! Mieke, Elly and Nicky (Katy B) were all very convivial from the moment I arrived. My stay was something I throughly enjoyed. I especially enjoyed meeting some very interesting people, and admire their enthusiasm for an ongoing project. Notwithstanding, despite the village being small. There is a plethora of things to do, more
Ok, Miekes family was my first Workaway host and they set the bar for all the future hosts. Know this, on arrival to the House, you will experience Ideas- that will suck you in, Kindness- that surprises you, View on life- that you will embrace. You will not be a workawayer- you will be a part of the family.
I wish them all the best and will more

Caspar thank you so so very much for everything; your wisdom, your smile, the stunningly beautiful 20 meter wall of logs, the roof repairs, your input on water-pumps and garden-building designs/construction. If the city of London gets too smoggy, then please know that there's always a 'room at the inn' here in Forest Row. See you soon.
Sorry for the delay guys.....I workawayed for two weeks in June 2011.
High energy, welcoming, generous, super enthusiastic, creative, comfortable, flexible, warmth, laughter, open, vision, alternative........all words that spring to mind about my experience with Mieke and family.
I only stayed for a short while because of further commitments for more

Hi Martin, it was super to have you here. Am sure you'll be back in sometime soon. With love and light, Mieke, Elly, Nicky, Carsten, Bumble, Wilbur and the -now 7- hens.
This was my first workaway experience and it could not have been better. Mieke is full of boundless energy and it radiates through the home. The garden project is an incredible feat and the work is fulfilling. I constructed, with the help of Phillip, my first log store while there. The delicious food is a part of the rejuvenating health experience more
Ben, it has been absolutely wonderful to have you in our midst! What a special person you are. We are really looking forward to welcoming you back as soon and as often as you like. Judith (the yoga teacher) was asking after you this morning. We'll let you know indeed when the BBQ is in place, as it happens I filled up the fire-pit with gravel more
What an excellent way to start our workaway journey . Mieke and her family are very warm and welcoming and we really enjoyed our time there. I will miss the yoga classes and all the lovely people we met . I also have the secret of Elms perfect mayonaise to carry with me forever.(thanks Nicky)

Having seen Tom and Darlene working on the building of the Astrological garden, was like a whirlwind version or fast forward movie. I've lost count on how many buckets and wheelbarrow loads of ingredients for concrete making they moved from the top of the drive to down into the garden. Thanks Darlene for the cookie recipes. Have fun on your more
My first experience as workawayer... perfect!!!!!!!!! I think the only thing I can say is thank you soooooo much, it was a great experience with a very kindly and lovely family. Girls, I'll miss you, especially Nicky, with ours ginger cookies...
I hope to go soon to see the sauna, and to use it, of course.
And Mieke, remember, when you don't more

Thanks Emma, we're incorporating the Spanish "eeehhh" into our language, but of course with the correct hand gesture with it ;). Emma mouse sleeps well in the mini four-poster bed and I -having become the grandmother of a teddy-mouse- have started knitting mini hats, scarves and gloves. Let's hope you will be back soon (we like to meet your more
Hi Philip, I am forever grateful for your translation of my visions into a unique design! You listened to my visions and dreams on creating a sensory garden where the elements fire, water, air and earth are in balance. Where a cloister and astrological circle give space for meditation and contemplation. Now there stands an 'astrological cloister' more
Mieke, Caspar, Elly, Nicky (and, of course, Bumble and Wilbur) - thank you! This WorkAway experience was unexpected, thrillingly energetic and a general joy. This family is so loving and kind, and we were instantly welcomed into the fold. Mieke is an incredible cook (and Nicky is as well!) so the food was excellent, the conversation was even more
Hi Alyssa and Justin, pleazzzz come soon again, we miss waking up with your piano recitals floating up to the rafters combined with the warm vanilla aromas of skillfully created pastries. Thank you for having completely re-organized my library and craft-boxes. Thank you for your garden work and wheelbarrowing tons of gravel.....but above ALL, more
