Area: Sardinia, ItalyOur goal is to maintain and protect the ancient garden with 1000 year old plants and trees and at the same time produce vegetables and fruit in a time honored, eco-friendly manner. The 9 hectare garden contains olive groves, fruit trees and vegetable patches. Some of the things grown here are lemons, oranges, grapes, artichokes, zucchini as well as the local mirto berries and of course olives. The major part is vegetables. We are currently three people working all year around with the garden; Giuseppe, who has two young children who love to help out during weekends, Enrico who is taking care of the cultural activities and Angela who is responsible for plant extracts, productions of oil, marmalade from lemons and orange, etc. Also Francesco joined the volunteers to support the many projects in San Pietro in Silki. The work we need help with is general upkeep of the gardens, like cutting grass, pruning bushes and trees, general improvements to the infrastructure (Outbuildings, fences, trellises for the grapewines and supports for olive trees) and of course planting, harvesting and making the marmalades, oils, etc. Exact kind of work depends on the time of year. Recently we have canalized the water for irrigation with the aim to start permaculture's projects.
Area: MallorcaHi everyone, September 2012 me and my boyfriend 35/45 took over a big finca with 15000m2 land in the middle of the island Mallorca we just loved the weather, the nature and the many long roads for professional cycling. Montuiri is a very traditional old village, we live 2 minutes outside the village, not many people know Mallorca like this and there are not many tourists here. If you go to coast places you'll find everything, restaurants, bars and a good night out, everything on a 25 minute distance by car. Sineu is not far from us where you can catch the train to the main town Palma. Our finca is very rural, the main house/finca we rent out to guests who come to visit Mallorca for a summer holiday or a guided cycle holiday. Next to the finca we have another house consisting out of three apartments and that's where we live. When we first saw this place we fell in love with the amazing views and the many possibilities and said at the same time "yes we want to live here!!" We agreed to take over the finca as it was at the time. We tried to do all the work ourselves but soon found out that it's a lot of work and it would be nice if we could get some help and company. We have so much space so why not ask people to come and live with us and help us around the house in return.

Area: AlgarveWe are a friendly and busy anglo-portuguese family with 2 children living at home as well as horses and various cats and dogs. We have lived in the beautiful village of Figueira in a villa with a pool and an independent 1 bedroom apartment for the past 15 years and absolutely love it. Figueira is located in the Natural Park of the western Algarve in easy reach of beaches and resorts.
Area: Abel Tasman National Park, South IslandWe have a small lifestyle block/farm 15 minutes away from Motueka, and the Abel Tasman National Park, with a lot of free range chickens, a few geese, ducks, turkeys and peacocks. The property is also home to three Labrador dogs, two cats, two anti social llamas, three horses which always need more exercise so experienced horse riders very welcome!! The daily routine includes chicken feeding, egg collecting, egg cleaning and egg sorting and packaging by size ready to sell. We also have large gardens that need to be kept under control! Help with all of the above would be great and there is always something to be done, either inside the house or out, cleaning and maintenance wise or some project in progress to be completed. Accommodation would be in our guest cottage when available (not so much during summer, Dec-March) or well equipped caravan (has shower, loo and heater). Food or three meals a day are provided in return for 4-5 hours work. Work hours are flexible for those who would like to take time for sightseeing and enjoy the area. Self starters who are able to work unsupervised and have a good sense of humour (who won't mind getting their hands dirty!) preferred. Own transport is a bonus (but not compulsory) as we are 2.5km away from the main road and not on a bus route.
