Description

We are an English couple with three children (3, 5 and 7 years) who have lived near Citta di Castello, on Umbria's border with Tuscany, since 2000. We are a writer/journalist and a naturopath and soon-to-be holistic counselor and yoga teacher ..... We live a large stone farmhouse (bought as a ruin and lovingly restored) in a very beautiful and very isolated and unspoiled spot at an altitude of 700m, surrounded by wooded hills. We have a large, organically-tended garden. The house is 25 minutes drive from the lovely old town of Citta di Castello (and 15 minutes to the smaller town of Pietralunga). We love to travel ourselves - we lived for 10 years in China before coming here - so the concept of Workaway is appealing.

Work

With our large garden, plenty of internal/external maintenance work and three small kids, we will have no problem keeping visitors busy for their daily 5 hours. During the school holidays, the focus would be on helping with child care (mainly in the mornings), but even at these times some experience of and/or aptitude for the other listed 'types of work' would be useful. At other times we will be looking for people who are particularly interested in gardening or maintenance work.

Accommodation

Accommodation would be in one of the lovely bedrooms of our house. Our visitors would be part of the family, and not have a separate living area for themselves. We also have an apartment in Citta di Castello, so it would also be sometimes possible for our helpers to stay there. Free wifi, loads of DVDs and books available in both places.

What else ...

As noted above, our house is isolated and there are no buses or other means of public transport that come anywhere near! Anyone with their own wheels would be particularly of interest to us and would have much greater independence. If you come without wheels we can make a car available to good and careful drivers for our own errands and for personal trips up and down to town, but not for touring further afield.
