    Description

Dear Workawayers my name is Brahim I've born in the sahara desert, after spending few years of my childhood in the desert with my family as nomads we moved to the town (Mhamid) the last town before Sahara desert, we came for education (school), when you use to the silent and the peace on the desert and after you move the civilization specially school you will get crazy, then I decided to quite school and back to the desert with my cousins which was not easy for my family to accept XD so I moved back to Mhamid and I sidled a small camp which is 1 km from the town on Mhamid and just where the sand dunes begins.

So, I'm here because I would like to have volunteers to help me build my camp,as I will be glad to show you my life style as nomad and culture and if you have an experience with any natural constructions, making bricks, farming I will be happy to get any kind of help from you, because I believe this is the best site to receive people from around the world and get help and experiences from them.

For the people who likes enjoy any kind of activity like desert tours with camels or the jeep we also organize them!

So for any question please feel free to contact me! :)

PS the work we are doing is not based only for men but for women too because our main goal is to share and show our culture and life style with everyone.
M'Hamid lies at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level and about 24 kilometers from the Algerian border at the edge of the Sahara. M'Hamid can be reached at the end of National Route 9 from Ouarzazate (260 km) via Zagora (approx. 97 km). Mhamid lies on the Wadi Draa, which rarely contains water.
About the early history of the place is little is known because of the lack of written records. The spacious palm oases, however, make an early settlement support (about 3000 BC) likely. Due to the growth of the desert, the settlement is threatened since the 2nd half of the 20th century by siltation, and the population is declining steadily. Until the end of the 1980s a special permit was required to enter the area because it is close to the strategically important border with Algeria. Even today, many soldiers stationed in the area of Mhamid.
In addition M'Hamid was always a center for traveling nomads and caravans. Today the town is the starting point for tourist camel and 4x4 safaris into the desert.

HOW TO GET TO MY VIllage (M'hamid)

    - AIR: Nearest airport to mhamid is Ouarzazate, (Royal Air Maroc) but are cheaper and more flights to Marrakech.
    - BUS FROM Marrakech:
Company CTM (direct runs Marrakech mhamid)
Departure from Marrakech at 11:00, arrival in Mhamid at 21:20

it's possible to rent a car in Marrakech or Ouarzazate. Coming from Marrakech you need to follow the road to Ouarzazate, Zagora and then drive along the Draa Valley until mhamid

Why does workaway.info allow listings of hosts who charge money?

In developing countries (Where most hosts are involved in charity work or community development) some of our hosts may ask for a small donation to help the host family or charity (often less then 5 dollars per day) Workaway will allow this listing when the donation goes directly to the family or charity and is just to cover the cost of the volunteer's stay.  (This will be clearly marked on the host listing).
We will strictly not allow listings posted by agents, “middle men” or projects who we feel are looking to profit from a volunteers stay.

Optional $5 fee for sharing food costs
