Description

Hello!

We are a busy family of 6 living on a farm!

Katie (18) is at College in Glasgow and comes home in the holidays. Heather (15), Angus (11) and Oona (1) live on the farm full time with parents Johanna and Niall.

The Estate is in Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland, about two hours North of Glasgow. We are continuously working to build up our farm. look after the animals and run our self-catering business.

To date we have around 100 sheep, 30 highland cows and two dogs.

The farm is busy all year round - in the winter with daily feeding, the spring with lambing and the summer with shearing and hay collecting and storing. From April until September we have the main season for our self-catering business, which brings frequent visitors from all round the world to our farm. Our guests stay and enjoy the Estate and its beautiful surroundings. The weekly change overs are a lot of work as our Main House is rated '5 star' by the local tourist board and we are constantly working to keep up and maintain this high standard.

Travail

...The skills we are looking for are varied and range from general housekeeping including ironing, hoovering, polishing floors and making beds to washing up and cooking.

The farm work is a mix of working with the Sheep and cows (herding cows and/or sheep and tagging, halter training and grooming the highland cattle) Getting in the hay in August clearing out the barns general maintenance (fencing, cleaning gutters and road repairs, building walls maintaining plants in greenhouse-eco house). Collecting logs from our forest splitting and stacking for drying in the eco house.

With our family help with babysitting, housesitting, shopping and dogsitting may also be part of your tasks.

Logement

A room in the main house, lodge, Cottage or eco house - one of these will be made available for whoever comes to stay with us.

Autres choses...

We see our 'work-aways' as part of the family and you will therefore be expected to help with the household chores as much as everyone else - unloading the dishwasher, laundry, mopping floors and cooking etc.
A stay here won't be a Monday-Friday 'job' with regular days off. We see it as a 'help - when help is required' and as tasks will be varied and plentyful it certainly won't be boring with us.

We are looking for responsible individuals, who are able to take charge and show initiative. As baby- and housesitting will be part of the job - you need to be good with kids, display patience and good manors and provide a positive role model. Preferably you are over the age of 25 and have a clean driving license (with at least two years of experience).
