We are developing 5 acres on Salt Spring Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. We are building new garden areas and improving those that we started over the last 4 years. A lot of the work will be related to digging new areas, planting, mixing soil, etc. At times, we are requiring the assistance of a carpenter/builder as we have to redo a semi-finished structure. For alternate work we are also building wooden fences and new garden areas (raised beds, etc.).
We eat very healthy with a lot from our gardens We are mostly vegetarian.
We can offer modest accommodations with internet. We have a full bath available in another building.
We are a couple both in mid 50's and have a lot of energy and plans. No children.
We live in a very beautiful area near the ocean and just above the best hiking trails on the island. There is a lot to do here on this island and Vancouver is very close.
Salt Spring Island
Type of help.
Help with Eco project,
Most of the work to be done is helping an experienced gardener work on our many gardens (fruit & Vegetable & landscaping) and an experienced builder renovate an existing structure including working on its foundation. We are also putting up rabbit & deer fences and building more gardens. Sometimes we work on creating paths in the bush down towards the ocean and building rock wall.
We have work year round but cannot host anyone for the first 2 weeks of September as we have a large friends and family gathering at that time.
You will have your own accommodations including a comfortable bed in a well insulated building or one of our travel trailers. Full bath in a nearby building. High speed internet connection and a gym.
What else ...
It would be better to have a male for this kind of work as there are many heavy objects to move (wood, logs, rocks, etc.). We are mostly vegetarian and eat very healthy meals.
We can provide the appropriate clothes to wear for those working during the rainy season here (December-February).

I spent my first 3 weeks in Canada with Andre and Martin, and they were wonderful weeks. I could say a million of good things about the time I spent there, lovely island, gorgeous hiking trails, the most beautiful sunsets I´ve ever seen, really good food, deer everywhere, nice jobs, gardening and landscaping learning , good conversations... But more
Julio is a great worker and we sure got a lot done with his help! From his energy, interests and "smarts", we saw that he would be a great resource for Canada. Without too much job hunting effort, Julio is now working in Canada! Who knows just maybe he will make it as a Permanent Resident and then a Canadian! Bravo! Good luck Julio!
Pablo was a great surprise for us! He not only arrived with a lot of enthusiasm and the necessary abilities for the work at hand, he was instantly a person we wanted to know more about. He has an excellent outlook on life and always speaks with utmost sincerity . He is one of those rare workawayers that has several reasons for being in Canada more

What I got from Andre & Marting was not accommodation & food but confidence, great meals & conversations and what makes you forgotting about you're away from home. In addittion learned from these two nice guys about gardening and landscaping management, so I thank you about the shared time. See you on September!!! ;)
We had the pleasure of having Vladic stay with us and help us out with our many outdoor projects ranging from preparing the soil for gardens, rabbit and deer fencing the garden area, clearing brush area and watering the gardens. Vladic is a very interesting person with a unique background that makes him very interesting. I would recommend Vladic more

Josef is an exceptional workawayer. He is very meticulous in his work and added a special design to our place as a carpenter. Josef built several gates with a unique design and also built an enclosure for our water tank that looks great. He even built a little bird house. You cannot go wrong with a Workawayer like Josef! Good luck Josef and more

We seldom take Workawayers from Canada as we enjoy the cultural exchange with people from other countries. We also like to be help others learn English. Luke wanted to spend a few weeks on the west coast before beginning a job here. We were extremely pleased with Luke's company. He is a very enjoyable, hard working and a very pleasant guy to more

Arnaud arrived with a lot of energy to help us move our various gardening and yard design projects ahead. He is very pleasant to be with and became an instant trusting and friendly person. He got along great with the other workawyers and encouraged them to have fun even while working. Arnaud has a lot of ambition and will succeed in life! Merci more
