We farm organically, mostly with horses. Live sort of self-sufficient lifestyle in off grid home, but have farm office with internet access. Contact us for the link to our youtube farm/music video where you can see farm and meet us. Children growing /going and we lost my wife in 2010, so now only two children still on farm and myself. We are too short handed to continue as normal, so are scaling down, but trying 'work exchange' programs to have some extra hands around. Located in beautiful central Kentucky, one hour north of music city USA (Nashville, TN). Lots of lakes, rivers and world's largest cave system. Mammoth Cave National Park. Also Great Smoky Mountain National Park, which is America most visited Park and is an easy drive. You can check them both out on line. We're not commercially farming now, just growing and preserving much of our own food and for our animals. We breed, raise and train border collies for herding, so we have cows, goats and sheep for training the dogs. We also have our own milk cow and sometimes milk goats. We make our own yogurt, can our own food ect. Have four horses for farming and a little riding. Wild turkeys and deer and peacocks everywhere and see every few days. We heat and cook with woodstoves. Sometime we work hard; sometime we do not, but always take time off to do things. That said, life is pretty satisfying just like we are living, so it's not a 'need to get away' thing, we just like to go kayaking and other things too. Feel free to ask anything you wish to determine if interested in visiting and helping us. We enjoy working/interacting with others including those different culturally and spiritually. We've had visitors/helpers from several foreign countries through another work exchange organization and also from around states. Has been a great two-way experience so far. My name is Petra, I am from Austria/Europe. In October 2011 I travelled to Uganda to make my dream come true – to volunteer at St. Kizitos babies home, an orphanage in Mbale. During my stay I met Michael. He told me a lot about the country, the people and the situation about children and youth in Uganda. We visited some orphanages in Mbale, Soroti and Katakwi, the situation was a polling since then, i realized the need to build the capacity of the youth Orphans and other vulnerable children through skills training, as to enable them to cope up with life situations. In February 2012 I went back to Austria I told my friends about the situation in Uganda the vulnerable children like child headed families, children who lost their parents because HIV/AIDs, Or killed by rebels of Joseph Kony and Karimonjong worriors. One year later it was possible to sponsor children through the donation from friends of Austria and to send them to different vocational institutions in Soroti and Katakwi. The aim of the organisation is to equip children and young people aged between 12 and 18 years with a good education or vocational training with knowledge and skills to open their future prospects so that they can stand on their own feet when they are adults and have self-confidence for their daily challenges and tasks. VISION: Vulnerable children, youth and communities empowered for holistic sustainable development. MISSION: The mission of the organisation is to provide the children, youth and the entire community with knowledge and skills to overcome their daily challenges in order to be successful in life.

We are a family of five living on beautiful Waiheke island. Our kids are 7,4 and nearly 2 years old and fun, creative and mostly well behaved (can be loud though). Also living there are 2 cats, 1 dog, 1 wild rabbit, 2 guinea pigs and 12 chickens 1 Rooster Our house is on a 1/4 acre block with sea views, about 10 min walk from beautiful beaches. We used to travel alot and like to help Travellers. We like to have a full house and extra help around the place & it's a nice experience for the children to meet people from different country's. We enjoy healthy, mostly Organic food and have a small vegetables garden and are working on expanding it. Waiheke Island is gorgeous place with a population around 8000 people. It's well known for its beautiful beaches, walking tracks, vineyards, restaurants and the Art & music community. We are 35min boat ride from downtown Auckland - NZD$32.00 return fare.

Dear Volunteers, My name is Kayemba Kalema and i am the Director of Hope Children's Foundation situated in Kigoma/Wakiso District Uganda. Our vision as non- profit organization is to help orphans and vulnerable children by providing them with a child-friendly home, education, health care, scholastic materials and general life skills. Recently, we were sheltering approx. 250 children in our centre but due to insufficient funds we were forced to reduce their number. However we are inviting you, as well as other volunteers to join hands in supporting those vulnerable children and giving them a second chance of living and enjoying a normal life.
