We are Volunteer Teachers in Thailand. Our schools are underprivileged and are under funded,We at volunteer teacher help these schools by finding volunteer teachers. These school are normally small with a maximum of 350 students. Our smallest school has only 137 students. Volunteer teachers expose students their culture through learning English as a foreign language. Thailand will make a big change in 2015 with the opening of the ASEAN Community. This change will be disasterous for the average Thai workers if they do not learn English adequately before this time. According to the ASEAN labor laws, workers from other ASEAN member countires will be able to compete with Thais for jobs in Thailand. The person who has the better job skills AND better command of English will get the job. This will a huge departure from the days when Thais had (and will have until 2015) preference over foreigners in terms of getting jobs. This is why we need to help these school which not only have low budgets,also have a low standard of education. Just by volunteering at our schools, you could change one of your students lives. All students that go to these small schools never reach university. Not because their not good enough, because it is because they just can't afford it. English as a foreign language has been a part of the national Thai curriculum for as long as anyone can remember. All primary, secondary and university students have English as a part of their weekly or daily class schedule. The wealthier schools throughout Thailand can afford the hefty salary required by foreign teachers. Considering most Thai students aren't entitled to this luxury. By sharing your time, energy, expertise, and love with people in need here, you`re able to make a real difference for them and help instigate positive changes for the country at large. If you really want to make a change in peoples lives, better someones life other than your own. Not only will you gain cultural experience, you could help children that real need your time and patience that on the long term could change their ideas or future. I will tell you a true story of student. Her parents were farmers. We had an American volunteer. He was great. This student was so curious of the volunteer, she kept going to his home asking questions about America and her English homework. But, this volunteer gave up his free time and ended up teaching her not only at school, but at her home. Today that student is an English major and has a great job due to the fact she had been exposed to the volunteer, she gained knowledge of English and foreign culture. She worked and studied at university to get her degree. Her and the volunteer teacher are today still great friend and even helps her when she has problems. Area: Kottakarai Village, Auroville, Tamil Nadu, India

With the help of organic farming experts, community leaders and volunteers, we help start-up small vegetable gardens in village homes, provide seeds and training to local people to grow there own organic veg and fruits in their own premises. With this initiative local families get healthier food, they save money on purchasing from the market and above all we help them sell their produce at local shops and restaurants for a fair price. This generates extra income which will help them not just to raise there standard of living but start-up a co-op to produce primary resources, home and personal care products in a safe and sustainable way. By using permaculture methods, this program will help transform the entire village into a self sufficient local economy & restoring natural resources. We are cage-free dog resort and camp situated just outside of Huntsville in beautiful Muskoka, hours north east of Toronto and close to Algonquin Park. This is a place for dogs to run, play and swim all day in large fully fenced dog parks.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION THE SCHOOL is a brain child of the founders who came from a not so very privileged background but privileged to have been educated amongst the privileged and later trained and now teaching the privileged in the society. We have also a an extra team of 2 ladies and 2 gentlemen who we have incorporated on the board to work with us It is based in ,East lands of Nairobi A legally registered NGO which runs the school was established on 18th December, 2008. Currently, the school has registered 100 children who are from different backgrounds The school does not have any international funding. but through he NGO we keep trying by way of proposal writing with the hope that some day funds will come by. Probably a volunteer with International NGO fundraising skills too will highly be welcome to guide us on this Our main target is children from deprived backgrounds locally. Also benefiting from this initiative are refugee children from Southern Sudan. We are pioneering a unique system where we integrate children from very humble backgrounds with those from more privileged ones. This kind of systems enables the school to charge parents from better backgrounds and give free tuition and meals to those who deserve the same opportunity but lack the finances. The fees charged go towards teachers’ salaries, children’s feeding program and meeting other basic needs within the school, thus making the school self sustainable. Our vision has always been for us to have our own piece of property and be able to construct our own modern school so as to be able to enroll more children as well as cut rental costs, thereby providing a larger population with quality education at very subsidized fees. The school has 7(Seven teachers and 3 non teaching (one care- taker a driver and one cook) The school provides Education and opportunity to children at a personalized one - on - one approach. The use of trained teachers, field trips, out door, hands – on activities and interaction with the well to do in the society provides children with the opportunity to interact thus boosting their confidence and self esteem. Volunteers with artistic knowledge i.e drawing, painting, and other creative skill are welcome The project involves parents and community members as partners in the education process by utilizing their skills and knowledge. The school’s administration works closely with the community and their leaders.

Communal household of three adults, one child, three cats, two dogs and six horses on 9.3 ha hobby farm and horse property. Helpers preferred who have experience both in caring for and riding horses. Large garden and small vegetable patch and fruit orchard. Gardening experience essential. Knowledge of and a passion for gardening, especially organic fruit and vegetable gardening is desirable.
