Aider une famille de la Saxe : charpenterie, jardinage, soins aux animaux de la ferme...
Description
We are a family of 6 (we are aged 37/38, kids are born 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2008).
Furthermore we are right now looking for someone who can help us with carpentry work while building a shed for the goats. But there will be always some work on the farm like cleaning the old shed, gardening etc. We have 5 old goats and 6 young ones and 5 sheep + lambs, 2 geese (hopefully somewhen young ones...), 9 chicken, a dog and a cat.
We're living in a very small village called Cortnitz (42 inhabitants) near Dresden (90 km away), about 200 km south of Berlin. We have a small garden (always some work there in 3 seasons...) and some fruit trees. We do love cycling and being outdoor. Although we speak english and are keen to practice it we would prefer to use german language if the workawayer wants to learn it.
We live rural. There are not much possibilities to have a big party around, so this place is more suitable for people who like it a bit more quiet and green and having an evening on the open campfire behind the house. If you want to go around one or two bicycles will be there for use.
We usually have only one or two workawayer at the same time as for us it is important to have a cultural exchange as well. Up to now we had as workawayers an estonian family, Kaya from USA and Lucie from England (already 2 times) and Alexandra/Morgan from Australia, Alex from France, Matthew from Australia... Be our next workawayer!
We have internet (no wireless!) in the house (in the sitting room) but it would be nice not sitting half of the day on the computer. We prefer people who look into the real world and not in into the screen world and meeting real person and no facebook-"friends".
We are not vegetarians but we are not eating too much meat (mainly our own produced meat from goats/sheep/ducks/geese - so that is limited). We dont mind if the workawayer is vegetarian as long as he/she can handle that we are not.
We try to think further then just consuming things, try to avoid unnecessary pollution of air, land and water. We prefer doing things rather by hand then by machine (but we have a laundry machine, a dishwasher...).
We have been to volunteering years abroad (Marie 8 month in Russia, Stefan 11 month in Papua New Guinea). We try to live with as low impact to the nature as possible. We produce our own solar energy (5 KWp), have a solar stove (for cooking during sunshine), solar heated water and do lots of other crazy things. We might not be typical germans - you may have to find out.
If you speak a clear english we will understand you quite well. And after few days you will understand our rusty english as well :-). We speak much better german - so if you want to learn - feel free to speak german! Very basic french (Marie) and swedish (Stefan) is also available.
Next train station where we could pick you up is Pommritz, next Airports Dresden, Berlin and Leipzig.

Autres choses...
We live in a beautiful village, very rural and with open land and forests around - so perfect for those who want to be away from it all. We are not vegetarians but if you are its usually no problem. We try to live as respectful as possible with the nature. We have a car but try to avoid using it. We love cycling and do most ways on a bicycle. The next nice lake is just 7 km away, the next larger forest 1 km.
We live in a 260 years old farmhouse (room heights usually around 1,90 m) - so it is special kind of comfort living without high tech and TV but with lots of flair. We have some cherry trees, apple and plum trees and a small garden.
We are all people who love to be outside. Germany is not as wet and cold as you might think.

I stayed with Marie, Stefan and their children for a month and had a lovely time. I could not have wished for better hosts. They are kind, helpful, open minded and always have interesting things talk about . The children are really sweet and clever, and it was a pleasure to spend time with them. Thanks so much for welcoming me into your home and more
Alex spend a month with us and we really enjoyed his stay and help. He is the kind of man who see the task and solve it without much words. He was a real great help for us and the kids loved him! All the best and maybe once again!

Living with Stefan, Marie and their children was the perfect first workaway experience. This is a very special family and felt apart of it since day one. They are easy going and warm hearted and I enjoyed my stay a lot. Thank you very much for hosting me!
Can you imagine an south african guy who can work outside with temperatures below freezing point? Or below -10? Or below -15? Well, Schani kept himself warm even at -15 and survived it with a smile. The animals loved his daily visits and food supply... A real good experiance with Schani and we hope you make your way well throughout the world... more
Alex and Morgen stayed with us a bit longe then a week - and enjoyed the snow. We cut a lot of trees down but there were still more standing :-) We honestly can recommend both to everyone to host them. Reliable workers and nice to conversate about evenrything.
Our time with Marie and Stefan, the kids and the animals was great! They live in a beautiful area and are very, very good teachers when it comes to everything; culture, history, food and they are happy to talk about anything. The work was very physical and exhausting, but even when it was very tough at times I have never felt so satisfied (I think more
Kaya - without knowing one word german - found immediatly contact to all of the kids. Even weeks later the kids are still asking where Kaya is. And she was a good help in the garden and around and with starting a fire in the kitchen she checked the evacuation routs in the house for all of us. Not much damage and we know that the evacuation routes more
I had a great time staying here! Stefan and Marie were very welcoming and helped me to feel right at home from day one. The three children are so great and easy going and I had a lot of fun playing with them. I learned a lot about gardening and cooking in a way which really taught me to love it. It was great to spend so much time outside and more
