Help dogs and donkeys in Northern Spain
Country: Spain
Description
We are volunteers for the local dog shelter and the donkey sanctuary nearby.
At the moment I am referring volunteers who want a taste of Asturias to contact Marleen at the donkey paradise - about 20 donkeys, 4-5 dogs and even a few horses and 8ha to take care of (and a vegetable garden of course!).

Work is never ending - anything ranging from helping with the donkeys or the dogs, to cooking and cleaning, working in the vegetable garden, cutting fire wood, fencing, concreting...
Most work is done between March and November, as winters can be muddy and wet, so not much work would get done then.

What else ...
We live in the Northern part of Spain (Costa verde - the green coast) which is more like Scotland than like Spain. Don't forget to pack wellies, hiking boots, water proofs and some good fleece sweaters!
We find it very important that people are familiar with animals, if you apply for volunteering, please specify your experience of being around animals.
We really live out in the sticks, so it's perfect if you are not looking for any pubs or shops. The work can be dirty, only wear things you don't mind getting wrecked - anyway "fashion" is unknown in our little village. The work can be physically demanding (even if we are pretty "old" ourselves). At the finca we speak English (Dutch, German) so if you are looking for a place to improve your Spanish, try somewhere else!
