Description

Andreas, myself (we are both over 40) and our 5 year old son, own a dairy
farm with about 22 milk cows plus the calfs and the young cows. Our farm
is located outside of town on the hill side, so quite a bit handwork has
to be done on the fields. We are not far from Salzburg City (City of Mozart)
and also close to the German border. On clear days you can see the german
part of the Alps. On the other side of the hill, we are located at, are
2 lakes for swimming during summer. It's an 1/2 to 1 hour drive to the
Alps, which are beautiful for skiing during the winter and for hiking
from spring to fall. Anybody who want's to get to know life on an Austrian
dairy farm, is welcome in our small family.

Work

On a farm there is lot of different type of work to do. It
helps if you are a little skillful and many-sided. You have to like animals,
especially cows, and you should not mind to get dirty. Cleaning out the
cow barn, milking the cows, doing field work, helping in and around the
house and maybe watching over our son once in awhile, are just a few examples
of the kind of work which will be waiting for you.

What else ...

We prefer rather long term volunteers - 1 month up -, for it always takes up a lot of time to explain everything new.
