I am a forest ecologist and owner of a small environmental consulting firm here in the Virgin Islands. My wife and I have spent the past several years restoring and renovating a run down house that is now a lovely (somewhat completed) home. We have roughly doubled the size of the house and have done most of the work ourselves. We have our hands full with a charming 1yr old baby and a dozen household projects. They range from light carpentry to caring for my fruit trees and outdoor collection of rare plant to general indoor fix-its. We have been in the Virgin Islands for over 12 years and can help you find the best local beaches and help you plan the next leg of your travels. For us, the ideal work-awayer will be a couple interested in staying for around 3 weeks.

A Lagoon which is bordered by the Swartberg Mountains and the Gamka Nature Reserve and surrounded by farms, open space and breathtaking views. Amber lagoon is a hostel where people can sleep in a self-catering reed and stone chalet, splash in the big pool and enjoy home-cooked meals in the open-air bar. We also have a big garden, dogs, chickens and various indigenous plants.

I have my own bungalows on a small organic farm in rural Chiang Mai and am happy to share the experience of organic farming and sustainable living with anybody who is interested in volunteering to help! I'm still new to organic farming and would appreciate any help and experience that people can provide. Volunteers with experience in organic farming are preferred as then we can share our knowledge and learn together! I also assign a volunteers to help local people's farms follow the seasons. I also run a non-profit volunteer working programme providing opportunities for teaching English in local hill tribes schools and offering medical help to ethnic minority villagers. I was born in Mae Jeam district and spent almost eight years in the temple as a novice monk before going on to study for a BA in Tourism Industry Management. I specialized in ethnic minority knowledge and elephants at uni and have been a tour leader for the last six years and am still loving it. I am an Australian who has lived in New Zealand for the last 32 years. My wife is a Fijian and we share parenting duties with my wife's extended family (the Fijian way), so we usually have one or two kids in our house. We also own a small farm which we are in the process of developing (see below for more details). We are both smokers and I enjoy a beer socially and a bowl of kava (traditional Fijian herbal beverage). We are not vegetarian, we eat traditional Fijian and Indian cuisine, but vegetarians are welcome.
