Our Mission is to create opportunities and foster dignity through the power of education. We work with the poorest at-risk children of families working in the Guatemala City garbage dump. Within a safe and caring environment, we provide a comprehensive and integrated program that fosters hope, good health, educational achievement, self-sufficiency, self esteem and confidence.

Antigua & Guatemala City

Volunteers are a vital and essential part of our program. They work in collaboration with our Guatemalan staff and other volunteers to provide the educational and emotional support necessary for the children in our project to break free from their surrounding poverty through the power of education.

The qualities and skills that our volunteers share with the children are many: a sense of self-worth and dignity, the motivation and perseverance to overcome a difficult challenge, creativity, confidence, respect for others, the ability to think critically to solve problems, and how to give generously of one’s time, energy and talent.

By sharing these gifts, our volunteers affirm for the children that they are capable, competent, cared for, and loved.
