I have my own bungalows on a small organic farm in rural Chiang Mai and am happy to share the experience of organic farming and sustainable living with anybody who is interested in volunteering to help! I'm still new to organic farming and would appreciate any help and experience that people can provide. Volunteers with experience in organic farming are preferred as then we can share our knowledge and learn together! I also assign a volunteers to help local people's farms follow the seasons.
I also run a non-profit volunteer working programme providing opportunities for teaching English in local hill tribes schools and offering medical help to ethnic minority villagers. For more information on volunteering to help with these programmes please contact me.
I’m a Chiang Mai local wishing to share my love of Northern Thailand with you. I was born in Mae Jeam district and spent almost eight years in the temple as a novice monk before going on to study for a BA in Tourism Industry Management. I specialized in ethnic minority knowledge and elephants at uni and have been a tour leader for the last six years and am still loving it.
It would be nice to discuss any requirements or queries you may have over Skype or via email.
Now i need web master help please contact me thanks(special request)

We are currently chillin' in Puerto Viejo, Limon, Costa Rica. We are managing this awesome little hostel and we are looking for fellow friends to help us out. We have some single rooms that we would like you to live in while you are visiting us and help us out around the place. We would be doing things such as painting, cleaning rooms, helping out in the kitchen (we are starting a new resturant), gathering coconuts, receptioning, and the obvious making new friends from around the world, and chillin' on the beach....Let us know what you think, we would love to have you!
I am a forest ecologist and owner of a small environmental consulting firm here in the Virgin Islands. My wife and I have spent the past several years restoring and renovating a run down house that is now a lovely (somewhat completed) home. We have roughly doubled the size of the house and have done most of the work ourselves. We have our hands full with a charming 1yr old baby and a dozen household projects. They range from light carpentry to caring for my fruit trees and outdoor collection of rare plant to general indoor fix-its. We have been in the Virgin Islands for over 12 years and can help you find the best local beaches and help you plan the next leg of your travels. For us, the ideal work-awayer will be a couple interested in staying for around 3 weeks.
I have been there for 3 and something months. And I have lost the track of time there, because I felt good and had gained more there than I have given. I have learned a new trade and made some wonderful friends, had fun, explored the region, met A LOT of people, and had an excellent traveling experience just staying there and being open to new faces from all over the world.
Tom and Belinda are marvelous people, and Sam and Amos (mooooom! :D) are doing their best to teach and learn from us. Excellent team over there.
I have stayed with Andrzej in the same room, so I am standing behind his words. A lot of travelers I have met here are now friends for whom I have good thoughts from time to time, good memories to carry with me and stories to share.
Thank you! And we will be back sometime.
This was our first workaway ,we stayed for 2 1/2 months. We had a great time with Jan and Ineke. We built 2 river rock raised gardens and put in a river rock path. Ineke was just the best hostess, she is funny and sweet. She took us to a friends place and we learned about building with adobe.
They have a wonderful place here, and you hear a lot of Spanish, Dutch, and English. This is a great place to find peace and quite. We could not have asked for a better host, they were wonderful.
We really enjoyed our month-long stay with Nic, Mike, and the other workawayers. The land is amazingly beautiful, and the (mostly outdoors) work--though demanding at times--never left us without energy to explore the forest and collect wild edibles and bones. We chopped wood, decorated bathrooms, painted a garden planning mural, gardened, built a fence and a bench, made lots of experimental breads, and took the lovely Bunbury on many great romps in the forest. Cooking and sharing food at mealtimes was especially fun--we learned a lot about cooking for large groups of people and using wild ingredients. Thanks guys for such a great month! Best of luck with future endeavors! Be sure to let us know if you're ever in Northern California :)
Having just enjoyed 2 weeks working with Julia and others at Chateau Ventenac, my wife Kellie and I (Simon) would like to say what an absolute pleasure it is to take part in what Julia is creating there. Our initial experience of a workaway has provided us with more than we could possibly have imagined, not only in terms of life skills but the experience of meeting like minded people from all over the world. For us Julia has the perfect balance of what a workaway is, clearly defined roles, flexibility, motivation and all round good karma. Cannot rate this experience highly enough. Thank you so much, we hope to return to see its progression.
We stayed with Paul for about three weeks in late December and January, and had a wonderful time. The accommodation is luxurious and comfortable, the work is simple and straight-forward, and Paul is a generous and laid-back host. He really enjoys the company of his guests, and does his best to make sure they are comfortable and happy in his home. He also loves to take his guests hiking in the nearby mountains, and the scenery is second to none, with beautiful mountain streams, plateaus, and an incredible array of wildlife to be discovered.
Should you have any interest in interior finishing work, and/or hiking, then this is the workaway for you.
Thanks again, Paul! We will see you again. Next time in May!
we were on an 3 month interrail trip, ending up in spain. We stayed with Terry and Michele about 2 weeks and experienced the genuine rural countryside of spain, mixed with british humor and the best applepie you ever get.
Eventhough we came during july, we managed to get along with the heat, enjoing the cool evening hours with a can of beer and the fantastic stories they have to tell about how they got to this amazing place.
thank you for your warm welcoming atmosphere and say hello to all the animals especially to yegua
I spent about 5 weeks working with Lukas and his 14 huskies, and it was a very rewarding experience. Taking care of the dogs was not physically demanding and learning to run a sled dog team was so much fun! Lukas was extremely warm, friendly, and his home is beautiful and quite big. I had a great time working here, and am hoping to come back and visit when he gets his two new puppies!
Sorry for taking so long to put this on here! We stayed at the farm in January and had a great time along with the other workers, Mark and Melinda are very welcoming people. And I did get to see koalas even though it took a few days which i think is quite unusual! food was great! I can no longer look at a piece of garlic in the same way :)
This was my first workaway experience and I have to say that I cannot imagine a better one to have had. Mike and Meghan were absolutely delightful and immediately welcomed me into the family. Charlotte, the 9 year old daughter, was very sweet and pleasant to have around.
The work was mostly outside and very engaging. I am sure, however, that the nature of the work will change over time.
The accomodations were very generous and the wifi fast. My bed was totally awesome. Really top notch.
The town turned out to be very pleasant and great place to cycle. Small, maybe, but I never really missed anything about the city, Bagneres had everything I needed plus some great hikes and rides.
Overall it was an incredbley pleasant stay and I wish I could have stayed longer.
Au revoir Mike, Meghan, and Charlotte. I wish you a life full of weedless ground and healthy plants.
I picked olives at Vilmo's farm in central Tuscany for 3 weeks. It was amazingly beautiful, and the Barbi family are wonderful hosts! They are very friendly & funny and welcome you into their home & life from the start!
The work was reasonable, accomodation pleasing, and Vilmo encourages his volunteers to explore the area, the nearest town a mere 1 mile from the farm.
I was very pleased with this experience and hope to call these people my friends from now on. I hope to return to pick olives in the future!
