Hey! My name is Elena and I’m from Australia. I've been working and travelling around Japan since December 2023. I spent four months in Tomamu working as a snowboard instructor at a ski resort, and I recently did a road trip around Shikoku, Kyushu, and the west part of the main island. At the moment, I'm spending some time exploring the beautiful Izu peninsula.
I love nature and being in the outdoors, and I love animals, conservation, and trying new things - I’m a very open-minded person. To me, travelling means taking the time to enjoy a place and to meet amazing people along the way that you can learn from.
I have worked a range of different jobs - from being a trivia host, receptionist, housekeeper, pub crawl guide, wine tasting host, cellar hand at a winery, and in hospitality as a bartender and waitress. In October I finished my first season working as a snowboard instructor and at the moment I’m working as a field officer to help eradicate an invasive species of ants. I've also worked on a liveaboard boat to gain my divemaster qualification as I love scuba diving and have just discovered my love for underwater photography!
In addition to this, I also enjoy working with children, as I grew up with two younger sisters much younger than me and also have had experience working with children for a short while as a school tutor, nanny, and more recently in my snowboard instructing endeavours.
I love learning new things and being thrown into the deep end (even if it's outside my comfort zone at first) - so I'm sure I can do any task that you need help with.

I enjoy teaching English - I've worked as a primary school tutor so I’m happy to help with any editing, speaking, reading, or writing that you may need help with. I've been learning Japanese for the last six months but the ski resort I worked in didn't give me many opportunities to practice the language; I'd like to spend the rest of my time in Japan learning as much Japanese as I can with as many language exchange opportunities as possible.
