Hei!

I'm Mathia, a 34-year-old queer woman with a degree in ecology. I have a genuine passion for the outdoors, I share my life with two wonderful dogs and can be a bit nerdy.

A year ago, I completed my MSc in Ecology, focusing on the behavior and ecology of European Carnivores. My summer of 2022 was spent in Abruzzo, Italy, conducting fieldwork for my Master's thesis and contributing to Rewilding Apennines projects. It was an incredible experience, working alongside fellow volunteers, engaging in both scientific research and hands-on labor. After years of academic study, I'm eager to embrace more manual work, leave Copenhagen behind, meet new people, and explore.

I am currently applying for jobs in Norway and plan to use Workaway as a springboard to immerse myself in Norwegian culture and eventually secure a position contributing to the conservation of Norway's wilderness. I have completely fallen in love with Norway, where I used to vacation as a child, so moving there is a dream come true. Until then, I am eager to connect with people and immerse myself in the culture.

I have two dogs: Sif (female, 11 months) and Fenris (male, 13 years). They are both incredible in their own unique ways, well-behaved, and generally get along with other animals, excluding cats due to Fenris's past experiences. Fenris is neutered, and I plan to have Sif spayed. Both dogs are easygoing and rarely engage in play with other dogs.

As for myself, I love exploring nature through hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. Nature, for me, is both adventurous and serene, offering a unique perspective on life. When indoors, I enjoy diving into a good fantasy book or serving as a game master for my online roleplaying group, crafting engaging stories.

Having undertaken numerous DIY projects with my parents and on my own, I possess a strong understanding of tools and construction. I have also had partners who owned horses, so I am familiar with caring for them. Animals have been a lifelong passion of mine, and I have a natural intuition and knowledge about them. I am not afraid to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty.

I am primarily vegetarian/vegan depending on circumstances, I thoroughly enjoy cooking, so I don't foresee it being a significant obstacle.
