Hello,

I’m Marie, 25 years old, and I'm currently living in Japan since October 2023 with a working Holliday visa.

Travelling and living in Japan is my biggest dream since more than 15 years. In middle school I was already making presentation about the Japanese culture which I’m passionate about. I grew up watching Hayao Miyazaki's films, reading GTO, listening to Miyavi.. I was mesmerized by all these landscapes, all this art, this architecture, these customs, and I have nurtured the desire to live there one day. Being a workawayer in Japan would be the opportunity to live a unique, authentic and incredibly enriching homestay experience. I’ve always loved travelling, I lived a year in Morocco in a family from my 18 to my 19, I no longer live with my parents since 18. As a tourist I visited Italy, the Caribbean, Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain and Thailand. My trip to Morocco was such a major experience in my life that taught me a lot and made me grow a lot. I've also did an internship in a charity there for almost 3 month, I worked with children in need, and it was so rewarding. From my father to my sister and even my grandmother, we all love travelling. Indeed I have two sisters, an older one and a younger one, and they have both traveled to many countries, especially my big sister who had almost traveled the whole world as a workawayer sometimes. She's the one who told me about workaday a while ago and I thought it was such a cool way to travel. Being immersed in a totally different culture does not scare me it motivates me.

About my hobbies, I like drawing, sport, cooking, animals, writing, by the way I’ve also written two books (who are published) so from time to time I take an evening to write. I also love cinema, Art, reading, fashion and makeup. In my free time I often go to the gym, to the theater, to the beach because I live at the seaside, and I like to make myself pretty to go to the museum. In Japan, I would like to take Japanese lessons in my free time because I actually don't speak Japanese (yet), and discover the culture and acquire new skills. As I said I love animals, so if you have any I would be very happy to take care of them.

However my real passion in life is personal development, and even if I haven’t got the opportunity to study it as I would like, I want to make it my job. I intend to start this journey when i’ll come back from Japan because I’m sure that this trip will be a stepping stone for me.

I really hope this journey will teach me so many new things, another way of living, and so much about me. I want to get out of my comfort zone to get closer to what really matter.

On a more professional point of view, I have a degree in applied foreign languages. I’ve always had a great sense of social relation, I can easily adapt. During all these years I’ve done a lot of different jobs as saleswoman, beauty advisor, waitress, call centre agent, babysitting...
