“The only source of knowledge is experience” - Albert Einstein. This is a quote that I strongly live by. I am an easy-going girl who never misses the opportunity to learn and experience. I think, that’s what life is about. I always wanted to see more world and leave my little country, just to experience more, to see more and hopefully, in my late 80s, gather enough stories from my life to sound absolutely awesome!

To add, in my 21 years on this earth, I would say I experienced some things. I have a good handful of work experiences, volunteering and knowledge from my International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Just to mention, I have experience in restaurant managing, sales, working in the bar, kitchen. I volunteered in my hometown (Siauliai) events, was a school president, was a leader in Marketing committee in Lithuania School Students’ Union. I think, this paragraph justifies my motivation of new knowledge and experiences!

What’s more, I am studying Marketing at Vytauto Magnus University. I can’t explain to you the excitement that I feel about this new chapter of my life! I will be busy during the first part of the day due to lectures and exams, but one day has 24 hours!

To finish off, I’d like to say that I am eager to see the world. I was like that from my early days. That’s why, I went to IB, to learn English as good as I can and went to all those experiences just to gather some knowledge before the real experience of my life - travelling abroad.

I hope you liked what you’ve read and we’ll be in contact soon!

    Best wishes,
    Ela

    Volunteering:
I always thought of myself that I am more of a doer for knowledge than academic learning. What’s why I started volunteering in my teenage years. Firstly, I joined my school committee. We did events, surveys about school environment, tried to make everyone happy in our school. Then in my 2nd year, I became school president. The work was the same, it just added more responsibility. When I became involved in school committee, I joined Lituania School Students’ Union (LSSU), where we worked with national students problems. My involvement in organisation took me to head of Marketing committee. There were events that we needed money, and my responsibility was to get money from sponsors. After 3 years in LSSU, I enrolled in International Baccalaureate, where I needed to have volunteering experience just to get diploma. In my 2 years, I did a lot of things. From volunteering in hometown events, to help in animal shelter or Lithuania Red Cross organisation.

    Work:
My first job that I had when I was 14, was selling hats and sunglasses in city of Palanga on the boulevard. I did this for 3 years every summer. Sometimes during Christmas period, I’d sell Christmas lights, toys and other decorations. This experience made me extremely good with people, communicating with them and helping to decide what they want. After this work experience, I became confident in talking to people, good with organising and money.

Then, after my 3 years in sales, for 2 summers I became a waitress in Japanese restaurant Sushi Masters Palanga. I was a good waitress. I never lacked in my etiquette area, I used my skill of communication with people to give them a good experience in our restaurant. To add, I was surprisingly good with menu. It was just something I was interested in, so to learn it by heart wasn’t a big task for me. In general, while we worked really long hours and had a lot of people to come, it was a good experience that taught me a lot.

Moving forward, when I finished my last summer in Sushi Masters Palanga, I moved out to the capital Vilnius. To no surprise, I went to work at the same restaurant, just that it was based in another city and its quality was more upward than in my previous one. Due to my work experience, in no matter of time, I became Sushi Masters Vilnius restaurant manager. This is where I learned, more than ever, what’s like to work in a grownups team with different needs and priorities. I wouldn’t say it was the easiest, but I’d like to think I handled my work as a manager well. I worked in this position for a year, when I decided that I want to go back to Palanga.

Lastly,I had a job in a beach bar. It’s a surprisingly calm and chill day to day job, but I was happy to see the best sunsets in the whole country every day! In this experience, I learned how to multitask in the bar and kitchen at once. My work became more planed and coordinated.
