    Hello! :)

My name is Hannah Maureen Dougherty (26, USA) and my partner’s name is Germán de León (30, Argentina).

We are both avid artists, nature-lovers, and travelers…and have been exploring the world together since we met in Mendoza, Argentina in 2017.

I am a Swedish-American, originally from Stamford, Connecticut, USA and Germán is from Del Viso, Argentina, a small town on the outskirts of Buenos Aires.

For the past five years we have been traveling throughout Central and South America together, living in Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Mexico. Most recently, we were living in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru where we worked together as co-teachers at an alternative forest-school for children between the ages of 4 & 7.

We are currently living in rural Sweden, three hours north of Stockholm, tending to my family’s forest-cottage where we dream of one day creating a self-sustainable homestead and opening our own tea, book, and toy shop community center!

I (Hannah), am a language teacher and singer-songwriter. In my work-life, I am a “conversational specialist,” teaching conversational-English, online, everyday, to folks from around the world. Additionally, I'm a self-taught guitarist and singer, in the process of recording and producing my own folk melodies, and interested in sharing my music more widely! My main passions, (aside from language-learning and making music), are: herbalism, folklore, storytelling, poetry, creativity and improvisation, outdoor education, animals, nature-based meditation, and studying mystical traditions. I am an open-minded, patient, resilient, and hard-working person, ready to dive into any new experience or challenge with willingness and an open heart.

Germán is a self-employed artist, and has been creating handmade kinetic art in the form of sculptures and toys since 2015. Germán, artistically known as “The Toymaker,” or “El Juguetero,” is passionate about reviving the endangered-art of crafting handmade toys and puppets, and creates magical, moving pieces & sculptures, carved and painted by hand, that represent different aspects of the human, animal, plant, and cosmic worlds (sailboats, whales, butterflies, fairies, hot-air-balloons, dancers, flowers, suns, moons and more). He is a genius when it comes to anything “hands-on.” He is an absolute master of DIY and fix-it-yourself, and is one of the most creative, driven, perseverant, and practical people I have ever met. He has a deep love of gardening and permaculture, and has experience working at a permaculture farm in Costa Rica, where he was involved in building and designing gardens, and also giving permaculture workshops.

Our intention and desire to participate in WorkAway projects stems from the dream we both share: of creating our own sustainable homestead/farm in the future, and our deep-seated, eternal love of travel. We adore the experience of meeting and knowing new lands and cultures, making new friends and family along the way, and serving humanity in any way we are capable of doing. We hope, in the process of serving, to as well learn skills that will help support our future dream of building a homestead.

Germán and I strongly believe that a rich life consists fundamentally of serving others, and that we must strive to leave the world a little better than we found it. It is our sincere wish that we may bring our love and service to every corner of the world that we are ushered.

    Med kärlek,
    Con Amor,
    With Love,
    Grá Mor,

    Hannah & Germán
