I love to hike, do yoga, travel, get to know new cultures, and practice new languages. Also, I love water activities, such as diving, snorkeling, surf & swimming. Love animals and contact with nature.
Beschreibung
Hello everyone, I am from Costa Rica but currently living in Budapest, Hungary, since three years ago. My plan when moving to Europe was to travel around, know different cultures, feel how is to live abroad, and learn a new language.
After some time living in a city, I finally feel more adapted. I have a nice job that allows me to travel often so it makes me very happy. This year, I focused myself in learning French: I have been attending an intensive course since February and now, I would like to travel to improve my speaking skills, learn more about the culture of France and make good friends :)
I love farms or places where I can volunteer close to nature because they remind me very much of my life in Costa Rica: working with the earth, cultivating, eating what you produce, cooking, sharing with family and friends, and being in contact with animals and nature.
I am very excited to have volunteering experience in France, share with people, and improve my language knowledge.

I can teach: right now, as a side job, I am working as a Spanish teacher for kids and adults, and in Costa Rica, I used to work as a teenagers teacher in a Highschool.
I have also worked in Tourism: as a receptionist, vacation house administration and have a bit of experience as waitress.
I consider, I am good in customer service and have a lot of patience.
I love animals and nature. I grew up in a rural area, so I know a few about plants, trees and like working in a place surrounded by it. Also I have worked renovating and painting a house for some weeks.
Throughout my life I have done several things and that made me feel so alive, it is like my passion. I am able to learn any new skill and apply it. I would be so grateful for anything you can teach me throughout this life path.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Welcome at our family here in ...)

I stayed with Joke and her family for 3 weeks in September 2025 and had a great time at Moliets and a good overall experience.
My task were: taking care of Lea and do home chores such as: cooking for the whole family (4ppl + me), doing laundry, cleaning, tidy up, deep cleaning (if you have time), clean the terrace, cats litter, the rabbit house,… read more etc.. During breakfast, I always had nice conversations with Eric and Lea, and then stayed alone doing my chores. I usually worked from 8am - 1pm but the days I had to take care of Lea (3 days per week) I worked from 9am-4pm. Lea is a curious and smart girl , very interested in learning English.

At the beginning, I stayed 5 nights in a caravan next to the house, which could be very hot in summer. But luckily after, I moved to an studio which is part of the house but also has its private exit, which is very cool.

The communication before my arrival was a bit limited, as Joke and Eric work a lot in summer so they did not have much time. This personally, made me feel a bit insecure and was weird for me, as I had to take care of their kids. However, once I arrived and during all my stay the communication was constant and clear.

It is important to let all Workawayers know there are two things that are not accurate in the profile: the family do not offer payment (as it is listed in the profile). And the work days are 6 or 7 days a week (and not 5 as listed) making the overall hours more than 25 per week. I recommend to discuss in advance your time off expectations and have written agreements.

Before my arrival I tried to discussed my time off but unfortunately as Joke is busy, she did not answer me. One week before my arrival, we discussed again and she told me "she invited someone to help her family with their schedules and needs" and offered me only one day off per week. She told me I could cancel the Workaway if needed , but for me it was too late, all my plans were organized, and my flights were bought. So I encourage you all to discuss the time off in advance.

After all, however, I recommend this experience very much for people like me: nature/sport lovers. The area is amazing, the beach so close, the people from the region are so friendly. For me was easy to make friends, improve my French and share good moments. The family lend you a bike and you can pedal all around, do several flat hikes, see insects and birds around. Also, they lend you a surf board and you can surf daily, which was very cool and allowed me to improve my surf skills. Sunsets are beautiful!! Being at Landes was a nice experience that I will always remember with love.

vom Host für Workawayer ()

Yuleisi ficou conosco durante duas semanas e nesse tempo desenvolveu várias tarefas, sempre com muito empenho.
Se adaptou muito bem ao ambiente e às outras voluntárias, o que propiciou um clima agradável e descontraído.
Deixou saudades e a receita dos "patacones" !!!! Beijos Yuleisi!
